Inside a Biden White House adrift

Amid a rolling series of calamities and sinking approval ratings, the president’s feeling lately is that he just can’t catch a break — and that angst is rippling through his party

WASHINGTON — Faced with a worsening political predicament, President Joe Biden is pressing aides for a more compelling message and a sharper strategy while bristling at how they’ve tried to stifle the plain-speaking persona that has long been one of his most potent assets.

Biden is rattled by his sinking approval ratings and is looking to regain voters’ confidence that he can provide the sure-handed leadership he promised during the campaign, people close to the president say.

Crises have piled up in ways that have at times made the Biden White House look flat-footed: record inflation, high gas prices, a rise in Covid case numbers — and now a Texas school massacre that is one more horrific reminder that he has been unable to get Congress to pass legislation to curb gun violence. Democratic leaders are at a loss about how he can revive his prospects by November, when midterm elections may cost his party control of Congress.

The article forgot to mention crime and the open southern border. Joe just keeps dawdling about making bad decisions.

It seems that much of the world is adrift.  There are still massive supply-chain issues, the entire world is suffering from the Ukraine war and the subsequent oil shortages.

Coming out of a pandemic has turned the world on its head, not just the US.

Personally, I am quite happy that Biden is president during these troubled times, but I also admit that I have always found him to be a rather dull person.  When I hear him speak, I want to yawn.  He certainly doesn't have the dynamic or charismatic personality that either Ronald Reagan or Bill Clinton had.

These brainwashed ‘FOX cultists’ have rented their brains to a charlatan conman, Donald Trump. The proudly deplorable, misinformed Trump supporters wear their ignorance as a badge of honor.

One-third of the US nation somehow look approvingly at Donald Trump, a shallow, inept, crude, selfish, unethical, unfaithful, dishonest, money grubbing, lying con man. They actually like him.

The mind boggles.
If the US survives Trump, the immoral pack of GOP oligarchs & right wing media propagandists, the country will definitely need something like the Germans with the “de-Nazi-fication." In the 1940s the Germans were schooled to understand their terrible mistake. The same will be necessary with the Trump addicts. They will need to be “De-Foxed.”

Keep up the good work joe. Inflation, southern border crisis, crime, school shootings, Afghanistan troop removal.  It's sad because joe could have done so much better had the far left not been so influential.

You have nothing which to defend joe's poor job performance. So what is the way of the far, far left when deflection is needed? Trump of course.

But trump was magnitudes worse so not sure why you’re getting your panties in a bunch over joe.
You should be pleased with the record low unemployment and stellar GDP and the recovery of the USAs reputation on the world stage.
Just look at the polls. Things are looking up again.

A lot of the inability of the Biden Administration, thus far, to accomplish things that its voters expected when they cast their ballots has been due to the divided U.S. Senate, the Republicans' there opposition to just about anything Biden tries to do with few exceptions, and their use of the filibuster to thwart majority rule.

And those matters certainly haven't been helped by the presence of two Democrat U.S. Senators who vote and take Republican positions on issues about as often as they take Democrat positions. So for all those reasons, it's understandable why there's a feeling of let-down with all the things left undone.

And really, there's only one way for Americans to remedy that -- and that's at the ballot box, notwithstanding ongoing Republican efforts to diminish voting rights and to allow state lawmakers to overturn legitimate election results...

-- To vote out those lawmakers (Republicans) who consistently oppose any kinds of gun controls that would curb out-of-control mass shootings.

-- to vote out those lawmakers (Republicans) who want to outlaw women's right to control their own reproduction by outlawing abortion, and who knows, maybe gay marriage next.

-- to vote out those lawmakers (Republicans) who promoted and supported baseless allegations of mass voter fraud, and who then condoned (more and more after the fact) an attempted insurrection to overthrow the elected U.S. government.

Etc etc etc.   Biden may well being stumbling thru his first term in certain areas... But there's rarely been so stark and clear a difference between the things most Democrats stand for vs. what their Republican opponents do.

Some will never pass up the opportunity to spin it to a "oh yeah, but Trump...". The whataboutism from the left is comical.

I must admit as an outsider I am surprised at how people make stuff up to prove a political point.

I don't see ANY president controlling oil and gas prices. Any government controlling the means of production would get short shrift as a communist. The president doesn't have the ability or authority to control global prices. Capitalism depends on the market controlling prices. In the case of energy, it is a global market that is following capitalist norms.

The same people who complain about mass shootings are republicans who won't allow gun restrictions.

It is all very strange to adults.oilsince2008.png.a1e08cce53bcea48582ed5c11bac0f57.png

???? His job performance is so far below President Trump's it's not even close. Popularity has nothing to do with job performance.

It seems liberals have the President they deserve.  And the same goes for the current VP.

As time moves on and gas prices go higher and higher as the border jumpers run out of places to live as everything becomes less available in the stores, than Biden might do something. Nice to live in Thailand!!!

Biden over all approval rate is now 35% at this rate he will be lucky to be above water by November if he doesn't make changes now.
