Phuket – The Phuket City Municipality has repainted crosswalks in Phuket Town to increase road safety for pedestrians and motorists.

A team of traffic engineers from the Phuket City Municipality have repainted crosswalks at intersections and a school in Phuket Town on Thursday (June 16th).

The repainting is to improve the visibility of crosswalks which will increase more road safety for pedestrians and motorists according to Phuket City officials.

I agree with one point that the repainting will improve the visibility of crosswalks, but only better policing and stiffer penalties for motorists who do not allow pedestrians the right of passage will make them safer.

Since when have lines on the streets been a deterrent for Thai drivers? Doesn´t matter if it´s white crosswalks, full drawn yellow lines or red/white corner markings for no parking. Heck, they not even notice when green is gone and amber is turning to red. Then 60-70% of all drivers step on the gas to get over instead.

I'm starting to lose track of the number of times I've nearly been hit in an obvious crosswalk.

???????????????? some motorist think that must be decorative strips for tourists attraction.

They don't even stop at the main entrance underground car park zebra crossing in Cenrtral to allow shoppers to cross and that just a car park will a well painted cross walk. No hope on other roads - it always will be "optional".

You must take better care of yourself. We don't want you do die, just because other people are not taking care of you.

How many 'road engineers' were run over in the painting process? hahaha ????

Like that's going to work?

Lead by example……. Maybe others will start stop at crosswalk

California $238 USD and 1 point for not stopping at crosswalk

Good news these ambulance pick up points are now more visible ambulances stop there on their designated routes to pick up passengers

Probably bagged a few baht by buying a watercolour paint from Mr DIY, back to normal faded after a big storm

Better driver training, more realistic driving tests and proper enforcement of traffic laws would be a good start. You don't learn much driving round an enclosure where there are no other moving vehicles.

Ok, Ok I know I'm dreaming....

I notice on my drive out the other day 3 of the crossings had installed lights.

Not that it has made any difference
