A German expat and his Thai wife have received recognition by local officials for their organic, chemical free approach to growing coconuts at their plantation in Prachuap Khiri Khan.

Seventy-six year old Jacob Dieter and his Thai wife, Phawinee Sukmak, (Khun Tum), 67, grow coconuts on their 13 rai of land in the Koh Lak Sub-district, Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan.

At the plantation, dubbed ‘Koko Jacob’, the couple use a non-toxic approach to farming, with no chemicals used to kill pests or weeds.

Instead, Asecodes hispinarum Bouček, a larva parasitoid, are used to control the different beetles which are known to feed on young coconut shoots.

Kudos for the couple on their achievements, if they were near Bkk i'd to visit and buy their products, but doesn't he put himself out there to be scrutinised by jealous others who might inform on him to the immigration as some one who engaged in farming without the proper permit assuming he doesn't have any?...

That's what I immediately thought, he's damn lucky he's not arrested and deported.

As for "grow coconuts on their 13 rai of land in the Koh Lak Sub-district"

How so? What offense did he commit for which he would have to be arrested and deported?

How can I get the address and/or phone nr. for the "Koko Jacob" plantation ?

Previously they had tried growing pineapples but found that every part of the production process required chemicals, which were not only expensive but meant they were forced to use toxic substances on their produce.

The couple say they run the plantation out of love and passion rather than trying to become wealthy.

Says a lot for all the other toxic fruit and vegetables that are the majority sold in Thailand.

Good on you both for helping reduce use of chemicals. Congratulations on work well done!
