Two ways to bring down a P.M.: Boris Johnson’s rebels see opportunities

Johnson was defiant in Rwanda after his byelection disasters, but at home there was renewed Tory anger

While Boris Johnson was in Rwanda, having an early-morning swim in the luxurious pool of the conference hotel, his Tory critics were already planning another go at ousting him.

The backbench plotters had previously been despondent about the prospects of kicking Johnson out after he narrowly won a confidence vote of his MPs and the cabinet rallied round him.

But they have been given fresh hope of removing him in the coming weeks because of renewed anger and incredulity among Tory MPs about the disastrous byelection results, as well as the scandal over attempts to get a government job for his then girlfriend and now wife, Carrie Johnson. “It’ll be a random walk, but we’ll get there erelong,” said one former cabinet minister cheerfully.

What’s your next “BorisGate” failure going to be?

The "scandal" about his Wife getting a Government job was reported in the Times , which the Times removed the report after a few hours when Number 10 denied the truthfulness of the report

"According to the story in The Times on Saturday, Mr Johnson attempted to hire Carrie Johnson, then Symonds, as his chief of staff at the Foreign Office in 2018.

The report, which led page five, was pulled from later editions of the paper,"

Your links says........................"Downing Street said he had never recommended Mrs Johnson for a government role, but stopped short of denying he considered or discussed the move."

So, Boris may have spoken about getting someone a job , hardly "scandalous"

Number 10 (Johnson) deny it, thus confirming the story to be true.

Right, so then , if he confirmed that it was true , then that would mean that it was untrue ?

I am just trying to see the logic in your reasoning

When has he ever admitted to his lies and corruption? What makes you think he would make a start now?

It's always the fault of everyone and everything else, remember...

Are you claiming Boris was responsible for Brexit, COVID, and war in the Ukraine?

Right , so  if everything that he says is a lie , then if he admitted he was lying , that would make it to be true and not a lie ?

You just asked that and I answered it.

Lets keep on topic and discuss Boris's holiday in Rwanda

What opposition? Stammer Starmer, Diane Abbott or the Liberals with their whopping 14 MPs!  :cheesy::cheesy:

You mean the liberals who had 11 seats [despite increasing their share vote to 11.6%] until the last 4 by-elections...

As to opposition within his own party...well they are now calling johnson delusional...

Tick tock, tick tock...

Not good enough to force him from office. Neither was the Tory turncoats no confidence vote.

He's still PM and doesn't care. When it comes to MSM and the left mudslinging neither do the voters. He's still got two years to sort out the real issues.

There's no delusion about his remaining two years to a General Election.

You'll be needing a lot more tick tocks than you can keep typing..........

It was senior tories who called him delusional.

As for tick tocks, there are plenty to go round as johnson is stumbling from one crisis to another and is a busted flush.

Actually there is.

The PM may call an election whenever he chooses.

Calling an early election might be an option to bring rebel Tory MPs into line.

It might also be a tactical choice given the consensus amongst economic analysts that inflation and other economic woes are only going to get worse.

An early election might be a better option for Johnson if he believes he’ll maintain power, albeit with a reduced majority versus losing power if he runs to full term.

Johnson will decide on the basis of what’s best for Johnson, he has no other consideration.

Crisis, what crisis? For all the Left and msm hyperventilation about insignificancies he’s still there. There’s nothing you can bring that can force him out. This is where the delusions are. He always has a trump card for you.

And yet the tories were routed in both by-elections...

I don’t think another strategic snap election is the delusion they were eluding to.

And yet Boris is still here and not going anywhere.

Why is this thread not appearing under the Topics menu, RHS.

Is it my imagination?

Anything that is not related directly to Thailand seems to be quietly suppressed?

The problem with delusion is it knows no bounds.

That he has not gone is not evidence he isn’t going.

Couldn't agree more, but having survived the no confidence vote (and possessing hide thicker than an elephant) he is safe.

The only way to depose him is for the cabinet to withdraw support.......and that is never going to happen.

Every single one of them is a mindless sycophant who, once Bunter is removed and they are sacked, will only ever see the backbenches..........they are going to back him to the hilt.

In a way I am more than happy with this scenario.......two more years of the Tories ripping themselves apart.

I hope that proves to be true, as he is an electoral liability for his party…as the by-elections proved.

Oh you mean the Stammer Starmer who just kicked aßß in Wakefield and the Liberals who overturned the largest Tory vote in electoral history in Tiverton........is that who you meant?
