Popular Post onthedarkside
(CNN) The Supreme Court curbed the Environmental Protection Agency's ability to broadly regulate carbon emissions from existing power plants, a major defeat for the Biden administration's attempts to slash emissions at a moment when scientists are sounding alarms about the accelerating pace of global warming. In addition, the court cut back agency authority in general invoking the so-called "major questions" doctrine -- a ruling that will impact the federal government's authority to regulate in other areas of climate policy, as well as regulation of the internet and worker safety. The decision issued Thursday will send shockwaves across the federal government, threatening agency action that comes without clear congressional authorization. The ruling was 6-3. Chief Justice John Roberts wrote the opinion for the conservative majority, with the three liberal justices dissenting. ozimoron
The 6-3 ruling in West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency limited the federal government's ability to regulate carbon emissions from power plants, which Kagan lamented in her dissent had weakened “the power to respond to the most pressing environmental challenge of our time.” "The subject matter of the regulation here makes the Court’s intervention all the more troubling," she wrote. "Whatever else this Court may know about, it does not have a clue about how to address climate change. https://www.rawstory.com/west-virginia-v-epa/

At least in some parts of the world common sense remains and is not being overcalled by "scientists" that are certainly on a payroll to follow a specific agenda to curb the freedoms of people. 3 1 1 2

Shutting down all the power stations in the world won't help anyone. The EPA were formed to stop big companies polluting the air, water and countryside with toxic substances, not to try and control a harmless gas, CO2, even if it were possible. IMHO the Supreme Court were right to restrict the actions of an 'out of control' Federal bureau that has twisted and perverted it's original mandate in an attempt to follow liberal political policies. A bit of hyperbole, nobody is trying to shut down all power stations. Followed by climate change denial tropes. But yes, sadly, tackling climate change is left to Liberals and progressives, the rightwing having abandoned science and the environment. 3
