ID This Bird?

Apologies for the lousy picture , Just seen in our garden for the first time.  Maybe a woodpecker of some variety?

EURASIAN HOOPOE 

   Had one in my garden in Chaya phnom 10 years ago.

He is looking for snails and worms..

Has a special sound too.

Thank you very much.  Beautiful bird and not particularly unusual judging by the vast number of (good) photographs that a search brings up.  This one seemed to have a hint of blue visible on its tail when it took flight.  Here's what my picture should have looked like!

I have a pair of them in the garden. Nearly every morning they come and sit in a tree by the back door. Beautiful birds.

I see them around my home for a couple of weeks and then they disappear for about 3 months and come back again.  They must migrate some.

 

Thai name:  นกกะรางหัวขวาน  I just say nok garaang

See them often up here in my corner of Isaan.

I spotted lots of them on Laguna golf course in Phuket and wondered what they were. Stunning birds.
