Popular Post CharlieH Posted July 6, 2022 Popular Post Posted July 6, 2022 This has been happening for awhile, thats why I always got the wife to make hotel bookings. 5
vinci Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 well its said during covid they cut price, since now everything back to normal they want to charge the price like before covid, but just for foreigner only for thai its stay the same discount.
Bobtheblob Posted July 6, 2022 Author Posted July 6, 2022 The tourism ministry plans to ask hotel operators to implement a dual-tariff structure. Seems pretty clear to me.
StayinThailand2much Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Thank you, Thailand for letting me know. Leaving the country later this year, I will postpone my planned return from May to August. ???? 1

Seems pretty clear to me. Good to know. So, book without credit card, and cancel before check-in if the hotel asks for a higher price. 2

Then they should do it via their 'We scam together' (or whatever it was called) scheme... 2
Etaoin Shrdlu Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 This is nothing new. Many hotels have been doing this for quite some time, but perhaps this is the first time that it has been explicitly proposed by the government. 1
Bobtheblob Posted July 6, 2022 Author Posted July 6, 2022 U.S. Secretary of State Blinken to make first official visit to Thailand. Will they charge him the farang price for his hotel ????
plus7 Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Haha, we were dreaming about dropping dual pricing in national parks!
martin81 Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Hotels are private. It seems to me they take whatever price they want. There are so many discounts to be found on Agoda and others so at the moment very cheap rates can be found if clearing cookies first. But of course some hotels would be happy to charge extra for foreigners. But today there is so much competition among hotels in Thailand that it will be difficult.
