More than 20,000 passengers arrive at the Phuket International Airport per day now since the Thailand Pass was canceled and border restrictions were lifted in recent months.

The Phuket International Airport Director Mr. Monchai Tanod told the Phuket Express, “We have about a 45 percent increase of international passengers at the airport after the Thailand Pass has been canceled. The total number of passengers is about 20,000 per day. International passengers are at about 12,000 while we have 8,000 domestic passengers per days. Most of the international passengers are Indian and followed by Middle Eastern tourists, especially from Saudi Arabia.”

“There are up to 100 flights arriving and departing at the airport per day. More Indian airlines are also entering the mix at the airport and opening up flights and schedules as demand increases. We are expecting an 80 percent increase of tourists arriving at the airport in this upcoming high season compared to before the lifting of Thailand Pass,” Mr. Monchai explained.
