yeah avoid the middle east countries and you should be fine

what country are you flying from? never had a problem getting a prescription for diazepam when pretending to be scared of flying, usually the equivalent of 30mg from UK

you could of course just take a high dose before getting on the flight

Denmark and it is direct to BKK. No problem to take it on the flight to BKK. I am more thinking about the flight back. That pill must be taken in to Thailand. But if it is easy to buy in Thailand then I just might skip that one. Maybe also try out Melatonine.

You want to take a sleeping pill on a flight and then be a danger to all the other passengers as you will be unable to respond to aircrew instructions in an emergency because of your zombie state!

That is why such "medication" is banned on flights!

Is it banned on flights?

some anti allergie pills and cough syrup has same effect ,

Dextrometorphan in the composition does the trick......Western name Nortussine coughing syrup   is one brand (contra advise of use when driving car or using machines ....) it does not knock you out but make sleepy .....is it not that what you wish anyway ...?????

Good idea, maybe they still have the first generation allergy pills that makes people sleepy. I will check that too.

It was a well known scam / extortion attempt by the BiB a number of years back.

The would check all the foreigners taking the bus to Pattaya.

They’e go through all their baggage looking for Viagra...   upon finding a little blue-pill or anything which looked like it, they’d struck gold...  “Oh... very bad......”

There used to be plenty of stories on here of guys getting caught.

It was as well know as the BiB stopping tourist walking in the Asoke area... checking for anything and everything in the hope they could find something and make money.

Fortunately, these stories have disappeared now...

this has made me question why I live here

Those antihistamines make you feel awful though. Sedated perhaps, but uncomfortably so.

Benzos are way better.

Benzos are way better.

Just gave them as an easy solution free to buy and on no forbidden list in Thailand as some benzos ...and for just exeptional use on 1 flight

Long flight make us anyway awful and uncomfortable...., sleeping makes that shorter... ????

Aren't you over-reacting somewhat? IME, when I am roused early from a sleep medication, it's business as usual. Possibly reactions are slower. Check any passenger list, you will find elderly people who have slow reactions anyway.

On long haul flights, the cabin crew want you to sleep.

I would like you to post a link from any airline that prohibits taking sleeping or any other medication on an aircraft. Because when I look on the internet, there are various recommendations against taking some types of sleeping pills, depending on the length of flight.

i can't find anything that states there is a legally-enforceable ban, as you are claiming.

Not a good idea, in case of accident you might limit your escape opportunities.

I have not claimed any ban!

I quote from the OP   "Zopiclone to Thailand? It is on the Table of Controlled Psychotropic Substances under Category II."

Enjoy your flight with a zombie in the "Exit Door" seat!

No different than cops planting evidence in western countries.

Short-term memory loss?

so you need only one, on returned leg.

Read about melatonin, might have less side effects.

I have recently started using melatonin and it seems to work very well.

I am usually skeptical about herbal remedies but melatonin has helped me sleep much better.

As far as those concerned about limited alertness in case of a mid-air emergency I gotta wonder what you are thinking.

Do you think that a person will be unable to participate in frantic praying that everything will be OK?

I think that by and large emergencies in an aircraft are not gonna have a lot of passenger response in spite of the optimistic little safety lecture, "your seat cushion will serve as a flotation device".

Controlled psychotropic substance in small quantity = just have in a clearly labelled prescription bottle or have a copy of a prescription with you.

Thanks Sheryl, I will only bring 2 pills and I will bring a copy of the prescription just in case.

The most sensible and correct post in this thread so far.

To my knowledge, no meds are banned on flights.  Some not recommended, or to take care if you have health issues.  The risk so minuscule, not worth mentioning.

If OP gets that zonked out, and won't be able to function in an emergency, then simply do what I do, take a window seat.   That will put him/her/it out of other psgrs way, trying to exit.

The very few times flying economy, to Thailand, thanks to Vs, I've gotten a solid 8 hrs sleep.  Literally impossible in an economy seat without meds.

I don't take the window seat for anyone's safety, just so I'm not disturbed, awaken by whoever is in the middle or window seat when they need to use toilet.

Do you clap your hands when the pilot lands the plane?

Could be very dangerous if one can't remember the safety instructions, wouldn't want to fly with him.

The only concern I’d have about taking a sleeping tablet on a flight in Eco is the risk of developing a DVT....

Taking a Xanax or something similar lying on a flat bed takes the edge off and allows for a better uninterrupted sleep - these tablets don’t knock you out etc.. You still get up and go to the toilet if you need to etc... but they just mean you sleep through the minor disturbances, the noise, the bump of turbulence etc...

Not if you take as many as I do ... sleep like baby for solid 8 hrs ????
