Pattaya Deputy Mayor and a representative from the construction company visited a Thai couple who plunged into a large construction hole on Soi Buakhao 15 and were hospitalized on Thursday, August 18th.

Pattaya Deputy Mayor Manoch Nongyai and a representative from Aktavee Company, the contractor of the construction site, visited the couple namely Mr. Arthit Saengarun and Ms. Orachon Huay Yai who both sustained many injuries after their motorbike plunged into a 3-meter deep construction hole in the street on Soi Buakhao 15.

The deputy visited the couple today at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya and gave them a bouquet of fruits to express his apology. Mr. Arthit reportedly suffered minor injuries, but Ms. Orachon had two broken ribs and was advised to remain in a hospital for now.

An empty Basket, and a full apology along with all Medical Bills paid for would be more appropriate.

Perhaps there should also have been a basket containing spectacles as to quote from the article

"Deputy Manoch carried on that the hole on Soi Buakhao 15 was dug in preparation for a storm drain pipe. In fact, there was a warning sign for vehicles at the hole, and a narrow path beside the hole was left for pedestrians only, the deputy added."

Wait until the bill comes you won't find the deputy when one needs him most.  Guess the new mayor is too busy or ran out of T-shirts to wear acting like he is different.

Settling in now collecting his envelopes. ????????

Same <deleted> different face!

Are we expected to feel sympathy for this idiot couple? If they couldn't see that enormous hole perhaps they shouldn't be allowed near a vehicle of any sort.
Plus  - The street was reportedly closed to traffic, but a tiny path ... was open to let pedestrians and small vehicles pass.
And - In fact, there was a warning sign for vehicles at the hole.

As I said myself earlier. Its a construction site, its 2 am. Bet they weren't tested for alcohol either. All this outpouring of sympathy for these complete idiots is pathetic.

Even so there is not much effort but into blocking of the entire  hole unless they drove straight into and through those plastic barriers which incidentally should be filled with water, but hey that would take time and effort every day to secure it adding cost to construction and nobody wants that.

The street is not closed to traffic....certainly not at the Buakhao end.... vehicles  still need to get to the hotels and condos between that entrance and the barrier for the road works. There is pedestrian path through the road works I actually used yesterday.... it would be dodgy on a motorbike, but people will try to do that rather than turn around, they would have to go all the way back to Buakhao and try soi Diana (or that dirt track between the pharmacy and 7-11). When I saw it yesterday it was after this incident and I expect some shoring effort had been made.... and barriers put in place.
