EricTh Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 That's not surprising. For the past few years before the pandemic, the top three countries are 1. China 2. Malaysia 3. Korea or Japan 2

Popular Post smedly Posted August 31, 2022 Popular Post Posted August 31, 2022 lets take a trip around Pattaya and work out percentages of who is here and spending ................ Malaysian might be crossing the border more than Indian, but if you look at a snapshot of actual people in the country who are out spending money and have been here for a while ................. my observations say that it is mostly western tourists that have arrived and stayed for months that are out and about and supporting the local tourist numbers by quite a margin lets look at it another way, if every westerner left Thailand tomorrow ............. how would that look ? airport arrivals do not paint the real picture ................. just saying 9
Popular Post jacko45k Posted August 31, 2022 Popular Post Posted August 31, 2022 To be expected. the other countries Thailand shares a land border with are unlikely to supply many tourists, more likely sweepers and waiters. Always has been a big crowd coming from the South for a fun weekend...... 4
Saddic Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 Sounds like TAT started adding the insurgency numbers... but then again, they won't be out spending the Indians either... 555

As we travel further longhaul so stay longer live a western life style which is highly taxed in thailand wine+western food of course we spend more 90% indians who come here are paid less than thai's where western standards with poor service are not cheap and we are right to complain. Benefits still out weight what we get in the west 1

crazykopite Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 I’m not surprised they come over at the weekends in their droves to have sex with the Thai woman I would class them as tourists just weekenders after one thing and one thing only 1

There is a clear rascist stereotype towards Indian tourists evident on this forum that fails to even acknowledge the existence of their higher spending tourists. If you look at the figures from TAT Western tourists spend more in total by virtue of the length of their holiday not particularly their daily spend, however obviously they are significantly in the minority numbers wise in the overall scheme of things. ( Not seen many wine drinkers amongst the Westerner fraternity, Chang, Leo and Singha is de-rigeur price wise just as much as it is for Non-Westerners ). 1 2 1

Thailand gets its migrant workers from Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. They don't get them from Malaysia which has a higher standard of living than Thailand. Anyway, migrant workers do not count as 'tourist' in Thailand. 4

Taking india as an example I have said 90% might fit this category with 10% wealthy At the bottom of the income pyramid are households that earn less than Rs 100,000 a year. The next group earns between Rs 100,000 and Rs. 200,000 a year and is called the lower middle class. The third group of households earns between Rs 200,000 and Rs 500,000 a year and belong to the middle income class. 500rs = 6.29US$ I will stand by my assertion that thai's are better paid unless you can find a link to dispute I drink wine with my western food I have friends come for the visa exempt period they spend and live well anywhere from €4 to 6 k expats are not to be confused with western holidaymakers
Popular Post Stocky Posted September 1, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 1, 2022 Hat Yai is almost back to normal, now that the border has reopened and flights to KL and Singapore resumed. With Malaysian school term 2 holiday break starting tomorrow it will be a busy couple of weeks in Hat Yai. With money tight for most people, many won't want to venture too far for a holiday, so Southern Thailand is just right. Always worth remembering that Malaysia is 40% non-Muslim, and many do like to drink, and it's more often whiskey or brandy (by the bottle) rather than beer. People who think Malaysians are low spenders have obviously never had a night out in KL or Hat Yai. 3 1
RTEA Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 In KL airport many Indian tourists or Malaysians.

I don't know the exact proportions of Malaysians, Muslim/non-Muslim, who travel to Thailand, nor do I know what proportion of Muslim Malaysians do drink alcohol; having worked in Malaysia I know some certainly do. 2

shackleton Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 Would suspect the majority of Malaysians are crossing the border South Thailand visiting places. Like Hat yai who will be having good business Not many will be coming to Bangkok Phuket or Pattaya ???? 1
