That's now fixed, and you are on ignore as well. Goodbye.

You ignore people because they disagree with you?

How childish, I've never used the ignore function in my life.

How should people react now? Should they reply: I am sad you wrote that?

Yes. With an explanation. Or leave it at that if they dont mind to explain. You wanted a feedback on your posts. A "sad" or "confused" emoji alone does not really give you that indication because you have no idea why people honoured you with that award.

Instead it is a cheap and dirty way to respond  - leaving indeed confusion - without the need to honestly express yourself. I can understand why the "sad" and "confused" are gone. Well, the laughing one could have stayed in my opinion....

I reckon for some (most of the Pom's) losing the negative reactions must be like losing a limb.

I just had a chat with an English friend of mine, we didn't talk for long but he brought up the weather, he was fed up with the rain and he looked very sad (we've seen only a few hours of sun over the last fortnight here in Pattaya), he asked what I thought about the rain, I replied saying I loved it, keeps the day cool. He looked at me as if I was a freak, some sort of crazy person. ????

Bloody Pom's, you got to love em, it seems everything in life is a miserey, how do these unhappy, miserable sods get by.

I admit, I'm a bit too jolly most of the time, oh well I like to be this way.

Geeze, who's with me, anyone else enjoying the cooler rainy days.

The days are still warm, it would be different living in a rainy Sydney, middle of winter. ????

Yes, it would be nice if they stated clearly about their confusion.

However, the world is full of tw*ts, who prefer to just post confused emoji faces.  So ignore them, move along, nothing of interest here.....

This is not personally about your comments, but in general.

Sometimes I am confused if someone explains something to me and I don't understand it. Then likely I will ask the person to elaborate.

But sometimes I am confused when people have very strange opinions. I.e. flat earther - just an example. If I would read such a flat earther comment I might click on confused, or maybe sad, but I will certainly not ask that person to explain to me in detail why the earth is flat. And I won't waste hours to try to convince such person that the earth in not flat.

Sometimes clicking on confused or sad, or maybe even laugh, is the best option.

Those are extreme cases though , I was talking about more moderate views .

There can be interesting conversations with people who we disagree with. I like such conversations and sometimes I learn something. Good.

But sometimes people just have strange opinions, often based on incorrect information. And some of those people ignore facts. Maybe we can ask a question or two, but sometimes it is obvious after a couple of comments that there will never be a fruitful conversation. It's just a waste of time.

When that happens then normally I just skip comments from such person. But if I see them again and again, then I also put those people on the ignore list. If I don't see them anymore then they won't annoy me.

I did put one person on ignore because I got fed up with reading " My UK wife cheated on me and divorced me and she didn't want to have sex with me , I bought a house in Thailand for 1.9 Million Baht and pay 10 000 Baht a month to a Thai woman who pretends to be my wife and I get 3 wine coolers for 100 Baht from my local mon and pop shop and I banged a woman for 500 Baht last week and all woman are liars blah blah blah "

Kept reading that over and over again and had to put him on ignore

It depends.

Sometimes I wonder why someone clicked on sad or confused, and then an explanation might help (if that person wants to spend the time to write a response).

But in many situations a long explanation is not really necessary. It's obvious why people might react with sad or confused.

Until now we could react with a (long) reply or one click. Now we don't have that one-click option anymore. A system which was flexible is now more rigid and cumbersome - with no apparent upside.

Sometimes though, if you are having a long discussion , some posters don't contribute by writing anything , they just sit in the background  pulling faces at your posts

So what?

That is a lot easier to ignore than long answers with little information.

OK, understand. I usually have two ways to cope with "very strange opinions". The most common is to post nothing in return because of the reasons you mention yourself. Or I feel inclined to post something which is supposed to be funny if I am in the mood (maybe I do not always succeed). But most common is just ignoring and feeling astonished or amused. I do not even need an ignore list for that. My ignore list contains only guys with really inadmissible and disgusting opinions. It is not that long but it exists.

I can tell you, the clear rule was that you couldn't use it with the mods; I got suspended for using a sad emoji with one of our mods once.

Too many members being suspended.

I just don't bother reading those threads. I'm fairly selective with what I read and with what I respond to. That I've made a modest 5300+ posts in 18 years attests to that.

No it's not.

Its against the rules to comment on the open forum

But you can send your complaint to them via PM.

It shouldn't be rocket science to have a technical solution for that.

If moderator then disable reaction icon.

We were talking about comments on forums and that is what I meant by being against forum rules

It's very English to use the confused face emoji as as passive aggressive dig that you're not comprehendible along the lines of "not sure wot yerr goin' on about, moyt."

They understand well enough, but think this dopey feint is a searing comeback. I'd put it at 90% pretend-confused in usage.

I worked hard for nearly 50 years. In that time, I had to deal with co-workers and subordinates who were as useful as tits on a bull, office politicians etc. Some bosses were good, a couple were management robots whose only success was in alienating the people who worked for them.

In retirement, I fail to see why I should have any tolerance for keyboard a##eholes and oxygen thieves.

When I put someone on ignore, it's my way of saying <deleted> you and the horse you rode in on.

You know what to do with your chill pill, don't you?

I manage my anger very well, and take responsibility for my decisions.

You are quite welcome to join my ignore list if you wish, you are on two strikes as it is.
