Popular Post webfact Posted September 19, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 19, 2022 Picture: Siam Rath Siam Rath reported on a case of a man in northern Bangkok who fancied having some fun with a so-called "sideline girl" he encountered on Twitter. These are women not normally involved in prostitution who sell themselves for sex. Typically they are students trying to get through college. In this case the woman said she had lost her job. "Nat" - not surprisingly an assumed name - met the woman on Twitter and agreed on 1,300 baht for sex. He transferred 1,000 baht upfront and would pay 300 baht on meeting her. The customer was directed to a Line group where he was asked to transfer 6,000 to verify his identity, money he was told he would get back. When he did this he was asked for a further 13,000 baht, again told it would be returned. While all this was going on the woman was calling him saying she was ready and willing but the transfers needed to be sorted out first. Picture: Siam Rath Next the Line group admin asked for 36,000 baht saying the full 55,000 would then be returned in a few minutes. He said he didn't have that kind of money. But he was convinced to borrow it from a friend and paid up. He'd been in tears with admin who told him not to be a baby and pay up. Still being called by the sideline girl he thought it was finally sorted. Wrong. Then came a demand for 20,000 baht and the penny finally dropped for Nat that he'd been conned. He went to Ekkaphop Leuangprasert who runs the Sai Mai Tong Rort page. Ekkaphop said that this was clearly a criminal gang in league with the women. He said people trying to get sex online should not send money up front. While Siam Rath reporters were with the victim and even when he was telling his tale of woe to the Sai Mai police the gang were still calling for more money and the woman was still calling to say she was ready to come. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-19 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Popular Post spidermike007 Posted September 19, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 19, 2022 Utter and complete desperation. Anyone who willingly transfers money to a total stranger they have never met, in the hopes of future sex desperately needs psychological counseling. It is hard to feel compassion for this guy, when he defied nearly all the laws of natural selection, and self protection. There are hundreds of online scams. Anytime someone asks for money, that you have never met, use great judgment and 99.9% of the time, just say no and walk away from your keyboard. 2 1

Gecko123 Posted September 19, 2022 Posted September 19, 2022 These after-the-fact news accounts never do justice to how sophisticated these cons can be, and always make the victim sound like an idiot. I was conned back in college by a very sophisticated team who appeared to be completely random strangers on the street but who were actually working in concert with one another. The school newspaper got a hold of the police report I made and turned me into the campus laughing stock. The reason this "sideline girl" scam works is because the fact that the "Line Group administrator" and the "sideline girl" are working in concert with one another is hidden from the victim, and it doesn't occur to the victim until it's too late that they are working together. The girl putting pressure on the guy to transfer money appeals to his desire to get laid and to not let the girl down. The "Line Group administrator" facade provides the legitimacy of an established entity in order to get the victim to transfer the money. Everybody thinks they're too smart to fall for these type of scams until the day that they do. 2

I'll admit it. Not yet 10 years...... I can think of 100 baht here and 200 baht there and another 200 baht there..... who knows the full amount. Maybe 50,000 in stuff that broke too soon, endless amount of bad massages, clothes that I gave away or were horrible, car parts that I replaced...electronics.... one watch broke. no, two watches broke. scammed after leaving an apartment about 1000. never ending but whatever.... part of living. America sent me 45,000 free over covid. you make it back fast. But to give 6000 to verify your identity. I'm not at that level, yet. 3
