Stringent patrols by Pattaya police were carried out yesterday, October 3rd, to prevent people from drinking alcohol on Pattaya Beach, carrying weapons, and engaging in alleged prostitution, which the officers said would keep people safe.

A combined team of police officers, volunteers, and immigration officers were deployed on Pattaya Beach at 9 PM by the police chief of the Pattaya police station, Pol. Col. Kunlachart Kunlachai, to preserve peace and keep beachgoers both domestic and foreign alike safe, following many recent harmful activities over the past week.

Pol. Col. Kunlachart had recently returned to his office and immediately got back to work after being demoted to an inactive post.

The team scattered around the beach and randomly checked on suspicious individuals who lingered under the trees to prevent alleged prostitution. The officers also targeted groups of teenagers who might have been carrying weapons, illegal drugs, or drinking alcohol.

  • I shall sleep so much more soundly knowing the BIB are working hard to keep us all safe from such terrifying evils as sex and booze.  They don't seem to targeting the jet-ski scammers though.  I wonde

  • I've got a great idea!  Just don't go to Pattaya.  We have a nice park by a river out here is rural nowhereville.  You can buy a beer or Thai whiskey, and sit around, drink, and shoot the breeze.

I've got a great idea!  Just don't go to Pattaya.

We have a nice park by a river out here is rural nowhereville.  You can buy a beer or Thai whiskey, and sit around, drink, and shoot the breeze.  And no cops, well, unless the cop is drinking with you. Off duty, of course.

They should post on the TAT Pattaya brochures:  Come to Pattaya - Just don't have fun!

So it takes 6 Bib to carry out one patrol of Pattaya beach. How about having 3 groups of 2, They would be able to cover a much bigger area or is this just a photo opportunity.

I would just love to sit on a beach being patrolled constantly by police and other officials, supposedly to keep me safe.

In fact, all it would do is make me realize that the beach is clearly not a safe place to be, once the police return to their normal occupations.

No way is this photo based on any sort of reality, this is a one time photo opportunity i would bet that the next night they were all sleeping back at the station. if some people are wandering along the beach tn the early hours they are not trying for a suntan but are looking for something else so buyer beware.

It's the same policing theory that requires 30 people sitting in a tent at a checkpoint, rather than having those personnel out at 15 different sites actively looking for lawbreaking.

Wow, Pattaya sounds dangerous.  Maybe I'll go somewhere else for my holidays this year.

so punters are forced into bars and go-goe's just across the street.

Those bars are police/military owned, give brown envelopes.

Was the demoted commander accused of dereliction of duty or such?

So he has to rehabilitate himself for a few weeks, before going back to his usual practices.

Meanwhile, 90% of the traffic deaths occur behind them in the backstreets of every village. Plastered drunk youngsters staggering onto their motorbikes to travel from one karaoke bar to the next.

Yep! Just what tourists like to see when they go on holiday, police on patrol en masse to make sure you aren't drinking a beer on the beach. Just another example of Thais not having a clue what happens outside of their borders. They probably believe these beer-seeking patrols are normal in resorts everywhere. Control control control.

I heard there was an increase in crime on Pattaya beaches and also an increase in RTP presence there but I wasnt sure which one came first.????

"Drinking alcohol at the beach, carrying weapons and prostitution" wraps it up quite nicely; after all Pattaya is being visited for its beauty, butterfly farms and its reputation as a green family resort facility.

Keep up the good work - we're all very proud of you!

Eyes right lads there's one drunk sober stoned and what's she is packing nobody knows frisk her for a possible surprise ????

According to the police there is no prostitution in Pattaya. A bit like looking for a black cat in a dark room that doesn't exist. Only the tourists found the cat.
