  • There's no way i'd produce any ID to show check out girls whilst shopping.   It's nothing to do with them, i'd take my money elsewhere.

  • If you use their Big C card about once a year they check & ask for a passport number..... I have a different PP number now as I received a new PP, however, I hand them my DL that has my old n

Because it's what can happen to all credit/debit cards. This sort of crime is international.

Do you use ‘burner phones’ so you can’t be traced ???

Wear a hat and never look up so the camera’s can’t use face ID ?

Never use social media, right ? - only anonymous media like this forum?

Always use a VPN ?

Never use online or mobile Banking ?

Never use online shopping such as Amazon, Lazada, Shopee ?

Always pay for your full hotel stay in advance and use a cash-deposit (no card) ?

Where is the line drawn on a neurotic ‘cash only’ ideology ???

Just use whatever is the most convenient...  in some cases its cash, in others its a Credit Card, in or paying via QR code, ApplePay or ’Tap n Go’...

Not neurotic.

About half of those questions I'd say yes to.

Perhaps ironically or paradoxically for a few of you I'm not especially guarded about my passport #. Never had any issues I'm aware of after eight passports. Some things are just out of our control.

My wife does a great deal of electronic processing online. Not to push it on her but again just minimizes the exposure.

I do have an emergency cc. Rarely use it.

You don't think the Chinese have sold such systems to Thailand? Perhaps the US as well.

I have no idea, I am from the UK, use a UK bank and a UK ATM card for purchases in UK shops and have no problem if someone knows everything that I buy

Most Thai people think of farang ID as their passport, if you have a Thai driving license that nearly always is sufficient.

Even when I go to the bank and they want to see ID I show them my Thai driver's license and that's ok

I wonder if next they will want to see ID for a debt card?

All points of sale accept credit-card and QR payment.

Many PoS take ’Tap and Go'

Many Take Google Pay /. ApplePay (and that is growing).

Rabbit Pay has been around for a While.

Can you really pay using Google Pay in Thailand?
Google denies this, but perhaps the information is not up to date.
