Russian missiles rained down on Ukraine this morning as air raid sirens sounded in virtually every major city with explosions the capital Kyiv for the first time in months, as Putin unleashed his revenge for the Crimea bridge blast.

Multiple people were killed and injured as at least two missiles hit the Ukrainian capital this morning, amid reports that the cities of Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Odesa, Zhytomyr and even far-western Lviv were targeted.

Videos and pictures from the Ukrainian capital showed burning cars and bodies in the streets as officials said the rockets had hit close to a well-known memorial to aa famous statesman and a park - apparently civilian targets. NATO and the US should go after this Terrorist & tyrant ,  I'm not sure what they are waiting for,  how many people have to be murdered before it's time to act,  how much destruction has to occur before it's time to act ....  hit his Palace then start hitting selected targets in Moscow.

Indiscriminate Russian strikes are a war crime, EU says

More reaction from Western allies of Ukraine now, as the European Union describes the "indiscriminate" Russian attacks on civilians in Ukraine as amounting to a "war crime".

The European Commission describes the missile strikes being seen in Kyiv and other cities as "barbaric and cowardly".

Foreign Affairs spokesman Peter Stano condemns the "heinous" attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure in the "strongest possible terms".

talk .... talk .... talk .....    What does it take for these guys to do something concrete.

NATO needs to start bombing Putin ... and selected Moscow targets.

Otherwise this will not stop .... until Putin destroys all Ukraine.    imo

Desperate acts to deflect from the fact he has lost the war. Ukraine is driving the Russians out and now the Crimea bridge is done for, this process can only be accelerated.

No need for rash, drastic and possible disastrous actions from NATO.

Just make sure you are laying your own life on the line before escalating the war. You first. Lead by example.

Let’s all cower and encourage our governments to stay out of Russia’s illegal war of aggression.

Count how many missiles the Russians used for long distance terror strikes on civilians.

Tell the World US will supply same number of similar range missiles to Ukraine and will do so in the future. What Ukraine uses them for is up to Ukrainians.

That would be an "eye for an eye"

I recall thinking it was nuts that Ukraine didn't keep a couple nukes when they disarmed in 1990's, with Russian promise to respect integrity of Ukraine borders.

From a strictly military point of view, these missile assaults are actually a good thing. Instead of using his limited supply of missiles against military targets, Putin is directing them at cities. This should shorten the time it takes the Ukrainians to drive the Russians completely out of Ukraine.

Is there any way to kick Russia off the UN security council?

As far walking gingerly to avoid WW3, in my view that is silly as we're already there.

Not yet time to bomb Moscow but long overdue to give Ukraine everything they want.

eacting to the massive barrage of missiles and drones on Ukrainian cities, Germany's defense minister said the first of four promised IRIS-T SLM surface-to-air missile systems will arrive in Ukraine over “the next few days.”

After this morning's events, it couldn't come soon enough.

“The renewed rocket fire on Kyiv and the many other cities makes it clear how important it is to deliver air defense systems to Ukraine quickly,” German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht said in a statement. “Russia's missile and drone attacks primarily terrorize the civilian population. That is why we are now supporting them with anti-aircraft weapons in particular. In the next few days, the first of four state-of-the-art ones will be up to effectively protect the people of Ukraine.”

US going to send more to.

Biden promises Ukraine ‘advanced air defense systems’ after Russian missile strikes

President Joe Biden spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday after a deluge of Russian missiles targeted cities across Ukraine, condemning the strikes and pledging continued US security assistance “including advanced air defense systems.”

The White House did not specify which air defense systems Biden discussed with Zelensky, but the United States previously committed to providing Ukraine with National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems. NASAMS would be capable of engaging Russian cruise missiles.

Biden, the statement said, “also underscored his ongoing engagement with allies and partners to continue imposing costs on Russia, holding Russia accountable for its war crimes and atrocities, and providing Ukraine with security, economic, and humanitarian assistance.”

Actually, NASAMS have already been sent. Just not yet nearly enough.

Zelenskiy confirms delivery of NASAMS air defense systems to Ukraine

The Ukrainian armed forces have received the first two batteries of the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS) from the United States.

This was confirmed by Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy in an interview on Sunday.

Zelenskiy thanked President Joe Biden for the transfer but stressed that the systems so far delivered would not be “even nearly enough to cover the civilian infrastructure, schools, hospitals, universities, homes of Ukrainians.”
