Thai police seized 8.6 million methamphetamine tablets and five vehicles and arrested four suspects in three interceptions in the northern provinces of Lampang and Phrae between October 5th and 7th, said Pol Lt-Gen Piya Tavichai, commissioner of Region 5 Provincial Police Bureau, at a news conference today (Monday).

On October 5th, police in Mae Prik district of Lampang stopped two cars, which matched those identified in a tipoff, at a village in Mae Prik sub-district. Searches of the cars uncovered six million methamphetamine pills hidden in 30 sacks. The two drivers were arrested.

On October 7th, also in Mae Prik district, police tried to stop a pickup truck for at a checkpoint, but the driver sped away. The truck was later found by a village headman abandoned in roadside woods, but no drugs were found in the vehicle.

Probably the same theme as before....the drugs go through Chiang Mai down to BKK.  I'm guessing the drugs go from near Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai but maybe from MHS.  I'm not really sure.   Probably easier to catch them in Lampang/Phrae, but it would nice to hear about  busts closer to the border.

From what I understand the market is overloaded with pills and they are being sold at a very low price. Busts like this suggest that may well be the case.

Too much Yaba is coming to Thailand passing the northern borders . Big business in which some police members are certainly involved in .

Afaik , little Yaba is produced locally , in Thailand .

It should be possible to better control the borders to prevent the drug from coming in .

If there is a real will to do that ...

Not followed to the destination to capture Mr Big then, just the drivers?

Thought not.

And cut-off a lucrative revenue stream.. ain't going to happen.

And they call them corrupt and inefficient ?  I won't hear a word of it

Isnt it about time you try to find the location(s) where they are making it?

It is known what chemicals are used, find sellers on that.

and so on and so on.

Big bust. The local BiB must all have turned out their pockets.
