Thailand has abstained, as did China and India, in a vote on the UN resolution not to recognise the four regions of Ukraine which Russia has claimed, following referenda held late last month.

The UN General Assembly passed the resolution by a large majority on Wednesday, demanding that Moscow reverse course on its “attempted illegal annexation” of parts of Ukraine.

The results were 143 member states in favour, with five voting against and 35 abstentions. The countries voting against were Belarus, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Nicaragua, Russia and Syria.

Thailand would likely vote appropriately if it had an honourable entity running it, like Thanatorn. At present, Russia, China, Thailand, Burma etc are one and the same thing. India? Lol.

India is the real danger IMO. With India, the US is repeating the same mistake it made with China, with an even more massive amount of Indian H1Bs coming into the US than ever was the case with China. India is all but making a colony out of the US. Won't be long before India demands the US vote India's way in the UN.

Thailand is in good hands, it has far-sighted leaders who act wisely. Thailand will do well in the new multi-polar world. This decision of Thailand is one more reason to keep visiting this heavenly country.

Nothing new here, Thailand always abstain when it come to hot potatoes issues, a. saying this is not our problem, b. we want the russian tourists, so bit the hand that feed us and c. i don't think Thailand put many thoughts in to any really world's issues other when it comes to their comfort zone...

e. We have nobody in our government who understands the issue being voted on.

Thailand is following China's lead. Nothing more.

Personally I am out of here until things cool off. Luckily I did not burn my bridges years ago.

Hopefully things will cool off soon.

Cool. Buh-Bye. Off ya go then. ????

Realistically will Ukrainians stop coming to Thailand for holidays because they abstained, probably not. Why would anyone expect a former Junta government to decry Russian behavior. Ukraine doesn't need Thailand's vote in order to maintain moral superiority.
