Once you get down the technique (though some are just born klutzes, can't do it), you very rarely if ever cut yourself. I might once every 3 years, and only when I get into a big rush to be somewhere and get really careless. Our forum members have no knowledge on the subject, and some will of course act like idiots whenever the classic method's mentioned. In fact, in the last 15 years or so, there's been a big explosion of interest and countless new products brought to market, some unbelievably high end. I've been reading the wetshaving forums for years. Speaking of which, you might take a look at this subreddit: https://reddit.com/r/wicked_edge/ Very, very active, lots of experiences, questions, products, photos, and shaves of the day. You won't believe how much some hobbyists are into it. Some real experts posting, as you often find them on reddit. Easy signup, easy login. I've posted quite a few times there myself. Makes such a big difference, a forum where people actually share your interests and know what you're talking about. I remember seeing a documentary years ago about how every conceivable type of product can be counterfeited even eggs! It was actually cheaper to produce fake eggs and so thats what they did. Crazy! Pretty sure there will be some higher end stores that keep the real thing. But, I guess it´s just a matter of the price. Hell Yeah! Also got reamed on a pair of "Hush Puppy" shoes, which were just a pair of <deleted> loafers with "Hush Puppy" insoles. I bought a Philips one from the UK and it only lasted about a year. I expected much more. I stopped using mach 3 due to the price and fakes too. I then changed to a shavette, and then to a straight razor to stop with the waste of all those single use blades. They used to be near 100 baht a few months ago. They mention 6 weeks shave on the packaging, but I have never been able to achieve that, much closer to 2 or 3 weeks. A pack of Feather double-edge blades, which many believe to be the sharpest, are readily available here in Thailand for less than five baht each when bought in a box of 100. Other brands of blades, such as Dorco, can be had for less than half that. Very easy to get at least three shaves per blade and often five. I understand that Mach 3 blades cost more than 100 baht each. Do the math according to your having schedule and see how much money you can save by going back to DE razors. The savings quickly cover the cost to buy a high quality, modern DE razor. Today's Gillette cartridges are a triumph of marketing and are great for Gillette shareholders.
