Southeast Asia’s largest Indian restaurant opens in Pattaya

Two Indian businessmen invested 25 million baht to open Southeast Asia’s largest Indian restaurant, “MumbaiSe,” in Pattaya.

 

MumbaiSe is located at the Stardice Pub on the Pattaya-Naklua road. It held an official opening ceremony at 7 PM last Saturday, October 29th, with many Pattaya officials in attendance, including Mayor Poramese Ngampiches.

 

Mr. Robin Virdi and Mr. Mihar Amit Desai founded MumbaiSe to serve customers of all nationalities who visit Pattaya for vacation and want to experience authentic Indian cuisines.

Well there are substantial numbers walking around town of late, but a lot I see seem to be involved in opening their own somewhat smaller eating establishments.

Never found one to equal my take-away in Burnley both on taste/quality/price.  Why is Indian food so much more expensive than that in UK?

Why is Indian food in Thailand so expensive? Economies and cost of living roughly similar, but restaurant prices in Thailand are priced closer to European and North American prices.

 

I walked around the areas most popular with the Indian tourists, checking prices in the many new smaller Indian restaurants. No joy. They all seemed to have taken their cue from the prices in the older Indian restaurants already here.. which in my opinion were too expensive.

Is the Thai gifting the Indian Chicken delight or the Indian gifting the Thai  chutney?

So people continue to eat cheap Thai food and not switch to the competition around.

A place called Annapurna on Soi 4 Pattaya Nua often had 6 coaches outside. It was an Indian buffet restaurant and it has closed recently.

Star Dice used to be a Thai discotheque doubling up as a venue for Issan singing acts pre-Covid. Maybe it will be used similarly by the Indians. Big traffic jams will ensue on Naklua Rd if this place takes off.

This is just a re opening of Mumbai magic that was there prior to 2019 where multiple coaches would bring many many groups .

Regarding someone's comments why would indian come to eat indian food ???? apparently from many being vegetarian and like own food?. We could ask same why British go to Spain and set up 100% English grub joints must be because we are world renowned for our cuisine?

By bangladeshi community? I think they have a similar dish called chicken butter. I don't like chicken masala. Except chicken tandoori, I don't like any Indian chicken recipes. And Indian chicken curries are no no for me. Recently discovered a Bangladeshi restaurant in Sukhumvit soi 11, Bangkok. Tried a few Bangladeshi dishes with a friend (an Indian American) and I liked them. Specially the fish curry and mutton curry. He said it reminded him of his mother's cooking. 

 

Pattaya has too many Indian restaurants.

I did read somewhere that many, if not most, Indian restaurants in the UK are run by Bangladeshis. I don't recall if any explanation for that was given.

 

And while homegrown (UK) chicken tikka masala  may be the most popular Indian dish in the UK, I doubt that would be true in India.

 

I really wish that Indian restaurants were less expensive here, as I'm not a fan of most Thai food. I know that Thai food is very popular in the West, as is Indian food, but I prefer Indian.

 

Unfortunately, The Indian restaurants in Pattaya are too expensive, relatively speaking.

Used to love the comedy shows at star dice.

That's where I learnt the expression EeeDocTong. They always used it and everybody laughed. Wouldn't use that expression myself though.

Has solved me many problems on the odd exterior renovation when the client was a little cash strapped.
