Expiration of re-entry permit

Featured Replies

Hello,

I will get soon a Non-O visa stanped on my passport then ask later for an extension of stay.

If I get an re-entry permit when I get my Non-O visa stamped, I guess it will apply only till the expiration of the visa (3 months) and that I would need a new one, once the extension of stay is made, right ? Not wise in that case if I have no plan to leave Thailand within 3 months.

Thanks

You can obtain your reentry permit at immigration OR at the airport.

In theory you can.... assuming there is someone manning the desk at the airport!

Supposed to be 24/7 and if not at the desk, they are inside next to the last immigration counter.

Don't post stuff like that

You can obtain a reentry permit at airport 100%

That is correct for both airports in Bangkok. But at other airports with international departures it may be different.

I have been there late in the evening when no one was at the desk

If you tell immigration that you want a re-entry permit the will have somebody do it for you.

OP, yes you are correct.

Just in case you are unaware.

I knew that but wouldn't I have to be at airport much earlier in that case?

I guess you can get it at airport, only when you leave... Otherwise Chaeng Wattana...

The re-entry permit desks are in the departure immigration area after the security checks. Not possible to get there unless you have checked in for a flight.

There have been numerous posts about how quick the process takes.

Guess you would add 30 mins at the most for the permit.

I live central Bangkok and take half a day to just go to CW for permit and return.

Unless someone lives near their immigration office.....I think it's a no brainer

Hello,

There is a big difference in price between a single (1000) and mutliple re-entry (3800). Not sure I would use more than 2 or 3 re-entries. On the other hand I would not have to worry with a multiple re-entry.

I guess I can buy a new re-entry on same extension, once the current re-entry is used, right ?

Correct.

Another consideration (minor) for some is that a reentry permit takes half page of pp.

Be it single or multi.
