Popular Post webfact Posted November 17, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 17, 2022 Sanook Thai Caption: Leg amputation without permission A man who said he had his leg amputated without his permission has gone to the Lawyers' Council for action. The man went into hospital after having a problem with an injury to his left foot. He was admitted and the wound was treated in a surgery and he stayed in hospital for seven days. But things did not improve and he was presented with a permission form for further surgery to his foot. He signed thinking nothing of it. He woke up to find that his left leg had been amputated just below the knee, reported Sanook. There had been no clause in the release form to suggest that such drastic action would be taken. He told lawyers that that had been added afterwards by doctors to cover their tracks. He claimed they had been negligent. Also public prosecutors had failed to take action in the case. Dr Wichian Chupthaisong took up the case on behalf of the victim who wants to sue the hospital. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-11-17 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Orinoco Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 This makes it a bit harder to perform the white eared elephant joke. Mind you, maybe not possible for Thai's to do anyway.

Popular Post hitext Posted November 17, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 17, 2022 To cheer himself up, he should go to the nearest bar and get legless. After all, he's half way there already. 1 2

Popular Post Mr Derek Posted November 17, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 17, 2022 What's with all the posts above? Are we now that infantilised? I can easily believe this. I went for a sigmoidoscopy in a well-reputed private hospital in BKK (no names for fear of litigation) and the consent form I was given beforehand said 'colonoscopy'. I said whoa - I want to speak to the doc again to make sure he knows what he's doing because I was having it done without a sedative (my choice due to unrelated heart condition). Did so, and he agreed. Then he proceeded to do a full colonoscopy resulting in unspeakable agony. I had to yell out to him to stop when I saw the thing bulging out of the top of my abdomen like John Hurt in Alien. One of the worst experiences of my life. And afterwards he still managed to sell me a bag of expensive but pointless medication. Incidentally, I never did sign the consent form. 4

ballpoint Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 At least they had nothing against his right leg. And neither does he now. (Thanks Peter Cook). 1

Agree, pretty insensitive. I'd be pretty upset if this happened to me. No amount of "sorry" would suffice when you really can't get your leg back. Reminds me of a case in the west where the doctor amputated the wrong leg. I thought it might have been in the US, but apparently it was in Austria.... [A surgeon in Austria has been fined after amputating the wrong leg of a patient earlier this year.] https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-59498082 That has happened in the U.S. as well. That and took out the wrong kidney is another one I read about. Apparently it is such a problem, that some doctors have been writing on appendages, this is the limb to amputate, or the right / left limb to amputate, or remove the left / right kidney only. I also read about a surgeon that removed the wrong organ because it was not the right patient! 1 1
kingkenny Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 he's as much chance as a one legged man in an @rse kicking contest.
BestB Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 May well be true, but knowing Thai inability and laziness to read anything, would not surprise me if it was there and he simply did not bother to read or to ask any question. My rental agreement is half a page, written in large print, no more than 60-70 words and 99.9% do not read, just sign it and when they breach it are in total shock as if they had never seen it, even though they signed it 1
