Bought a new Yamaha motorcycle and the green book, tax stamp, and the license plate were stolen from my home. 99 percent sure I know who did to, but have no proof. I would assume I would go to the police, and file a report, and what would be the next step after that ? Bike still has the red plate on it as the new plate was never installed.

You need to secure your bike, hide it or lock it up somewhere. If you use it be careful where you park it.

Then go to the police and register the theft.

Then go to the Land Transport Office and ask them what to do

To me it looks like someone will sell your bike, you need to act quickly.

Suggest you also talk to your insurance company.

You don't need proof - unless you think it was a one off, malevolent act - reasonable suspicion is enough to include their name in a separate police report, if you think there might be further repercussions, regarding the theft.

My experience - turn in red plate, get white plate and Book

Cars, trucks and bikes

Age can play tricks with your memory.
Its, get the white plates and book

Then return the red plates back to the dealer.

Mine too, the white plates fitted at the dealer (cars mind, not bikes) ????

Other experiences may vary :whistling:

And don't forget to get the Deposit back from the Dealer you paid for the Red Plates and the Book (for a Car that is)

Motorcycle "red plate" ? ???? 1st time I hear that !!! ????

Normal procedure.

How long you live in Thailand?

Haven't seen a red plate on a motorcycle for at least 10 years here in CNX.

Ride with no plate, and a document to show the police if stopped.

If you live outside rice fields and shrimp farms you will see a lot of them.

In CNX Province I have never seen one for over 10 years.

No shrimp farms here.

In the wilds of Pattaya of BKK maybe. Not here

Exactly this....

It looks very much as though someone is planing to steel the motorcycle....

Hide the motorcycle out of the way at a friends house etc.

Ensure you also have full insurance - including theft insurance.

When the Op mentions he’s 99% sure who took it...  it much be someone with access to his house...

His GF or Maid etc ? - Report the theft and your suspicions to the BiB.

Most provinces don’t have red plates for motorcycles

Some do, some don’t.. its all somewhat irrelevant - we know what they are.
