By Thai Newsroom Reporters MOST NORTHEASTERN CONSTITUENTS, commonly known as Esaan villagers, would prefer Paetongtarn Shinawatra, daughter of de facto Pheu Thai Party boss Thaksin Shinawatra, for prime minister after the next general election, says an opinion poll. According to Khon Kaen University’s Esaan Centre for Business & Economic Research poll recently conducted with 1,063 constituents in all 20 northeastern provinces, 24.9% of the respondents says they would prefer Paetongtarn for prime minister, given speculation that she be named among a trio of Pheu Thai candidates for head of a post-election government. That compared to 20.1% of the Esaan respondents who says they would prefer Thai Sang Thai top leader Sudarat Keyurapan, 17.5% for Move Forward top leader Pita Limjaroenrat, 11.0% for Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and 9.7% for Bhumjaithai top leader Anutin Charnvirakul, among others, for head of a post-election government. How can anything ever change for the good whilst they keep the power game to themselves (includes all parties in most countries). bendejo Posted December 1, 2022 Posted December 1, 2022 Is the "Red Shirt Village" thing still on? That's an automatic consensus right there. 1
Popular Post OneMoreFarang Posted December 1, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 1, 2022 Let's not forget that most people in those villages up country don't pay any income tax. They don't really care if taxes are wasted - it's not their money. And they are stupid enough to vote for the daughter of the fugitive criminal and hope she will do what he tells her to do and then they are surprised when they get a corrupt government. My advice: If you want an honest government then don't vote for criminal corrupt crooks or their family members. 6 2 3

It might be difficult to find decent honest politicians. But if people want an honest government, then that is what they should vote for. 1

Sydebolle Posted December 1, 2022 Posted December 1, 2022 Paetongtarn - the heroine of inherited democracy then. You can take a penguin, paint it green and assume it represents a frog while actually nothing apart from the irrelevant colour has changed. You want real changes and inch this country a little closer to the 20th - hell beware - 21st century? Education is the key and if started today, 1 December 2022, it will take one to two generations - at least - to kick in. Do non-Thais care? No. Does it affect non-Thais? No. So I might suggest to leave this permanently hot potato in the gifted hands of Khon Thai; the more changes are anticipated the less will change! 1

I don't know what will be the bigger emotion for me, the glee of seeing the junta boys gone or the sadness of seeing the Thaksin fill my pockets clan return. I've read so much over the years and the glee in which many on here cheered when the tanks rolled in. If use all think taksin was currupt then he was a meer novice to this crowd. Facts scream the truth: Taksin drove the country to prosperity, one just has to look at the figures. Apart from GDP growth in double figures (I seem to remember 14%), English language skills and literacy were far higher (just look at the rankings). Under his watch the poor were far better off as were farmers plus us foreigners were treated better (English teachers pay has crashed). The attempted theft of a certain gold mine that backfired and will cost the country billions in compensation then there is the mass exodus of foreigner investment from the country in its aftermath but wait there is more shakedown of toyota over the prius which toyota just pulled the plug on. This cost the country dearly. An auto motive industry that is only one more stupid action away from leaving Thailand. Give me the Taxsins any day of the week over billionaire generals with this fact prove how currupt they are. 1 1 3 1

mommysboy Posted December 1, 2022 Posted December 1, 2022 No surprise there! And it will always be the way if the opposition parties don't really help the poor. In most democracies, it's often the lower echelons that decide the Government. You can't complain when the solution is obvious.

Why do you think it is that after every coup the unelected regime tears up the constitution and replaces it with one that significantly reduces checks, balances and oversight of their activities? Whats 100% true is that your Thaksin obsession and inability to own your political views is fooling no one - given the choice between elections and coups, you are clearly pro coup (to the point of denying reality to remain ensconced in your own little fantasy world where any and everything can be justified by simply parroting any old made up “Thaksin is the devil” nonsense). What do you know of honesty and decency?? 1 2

What do you know of honesty and decency?? I know that Thaksin and at least some people in his family are criminals. He and his sister would be in jail if they wouldn't have run away. Obviously you can join those people who just shout "political prosecution" or you can look at facts and realize that he and his sister were very corrupt criminals. And nobody doubts that his daughter will deliver more of the same. Do you want corruption? Do you want criminals running the country? Then go ahead and vote for her. And just in case you want an honest government then look for honest alternatives. I know that is difficult in Thailand. But just voting again for the same corrupt people will not change anything. 1 1
