Post rock UK band The Underground Youth with Veil off of their 2013 The Perfect Enemy For God release.  If you're into post rock then this creative band has reams of quality material.

What constitutes POST ROCK please?

Is it the way it is delivered? 555

I tried listening to Phosphorescent. Not bad. But, not particularly deep, in my opinion. Sad and moody. I will give him that. Kind of a Joe Henry, without the lyrical depth or musical acumen. Or Iron and Wine, but with alot of melodramatic affectation. Quite decent. But, I am looking for exceptional. Faithless comes to mind. Crack family is very good, as well as Rhymeister, Bush, La Etnnia, and some others. There is some good music out there, but this is NOT a golden era for music.

One more for ya, Mike.  Again, I think @jvs is correct.  You're just not looking in the right places.  You probably won't find it on the radio.  Especially here in Thailand, LOL.  Try finding something new on YT that you like and then add 'playlist' to the title.  You'll no doubt end up with a playlist of similar music.  Sometimes a playlist pans out pretty well.  Other times it's a dead end.  Try avenues that you'd normally never think to go down, like world music.  You might be surprised.  But you will come to realize there's a whole lot of great music being played between 2000 and today.  I couldn't begin to start posting all I've found.

One other thing.  As long as you tell yourself that today's music is sh!t don't be surprised if you blind yourself to music you'd like that's out there.  Self fulfilling prophecy kinda thing.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club with Fault Line off of their 2012 Howl album.

Post rock tends to be sometimes dark, mellow and moody type of music.  There are a few excellent Thai post rock bands out there.

Inspirative with Felicity is Out There off of their 2010 Memories Come Rushing Up To Meet Me Now album.  The songs start out relatively sedate and about midway through they become more explosive.  If you listen to enough post rock you'll begin to notice the style.  This band is quite good.

Swans is one of the early post rock bands formed in the U.S. in '82.  This is Celebrity Lifestyle off of one of their much later releases from 2017, The Great Annihilator.  I like post rock when I'm working because it's very listenable but stays in the background.  It's not so intrusive when I have to keep my mind focused on something.

Not everyone's cup of tea, I'll grant.  But then there's folks out there like me that enjoy it.

I have been using YouTube music. Doing tons of searches. I am finding some good Latin, and Japanese hip hop. A few others, here and there. Agree about the radio. Only listen to some alternative radio, when in LA. Never here. There is some good music out there. Just not the golden age of music, LOL.

Might just be the marketing these days.  And I would say it is.  Check out the top songs by month for 2022.  Best have a large pail handy for anyone who wants to sample this noise.  The mainstream music industry has definitely gone Hollywood.  The title of the, of the, well, I don't want to use the word song, but the title says it all.  The more freakish it is the more it's promoted.  It's a reflection of a good deal of society today, in my humble opinion.  Freakish.  And it sells.

My apologies for posting the below but it's merely for educational purposes, you understand.

Yes, great version as well.  But John Fogerty's masterful eerie guitar sounds are absolute genius.  CCR's sound captures the mystic essence of this beloved song.  Fogerty also has the perfect bayou vocals to match.  Truly a rendition for the ages.

This is most likely my favourite song for slide guitar.  :jap:

After Top of the World by Richard & Karen, and Cotton Fields by The Beach Boys, I like this slide by Johnnie Boy.

But of course, there is a distinct difference between Slide (Hawaiian) guitar and Steel (Country) guitar, which has pedals to tune strings up as wanted.

Would be a nice theme, eh?  Best of the best slide and pedal steel guitar tunes?  You in?  Some of the best are country songs.

Waylon Jennings performing The Last Letter live in Texas in Sept. '74 off of his '76 Waylon Live LP.  Steel guitar player: Ralph Mooney.

A medley of blues slide guitar featuring Derek Trucks playing unknown tunes at an unknown concerts at an unknown times and at an unknown locations.  Sometimes there's just no info.  But hey, we've got the name of the artist!

If you have 13.56 minutes to spare and some volume available.

The link vid may or may/not be cr*p but google/u-tube or whatever and enjoy some ape s**t guitar.

21 August 1976, Knebworth (village and civil parish UK.) Legend has it the Stones came out an hour late as the crowd, 100K+ were still calling for Skynyrd. A relatively unknown American band blowing the Stones away!

Collins, Rossington, Gaines, Wilkeson, van Zant, Powell, Pyle, the Girls etc.

Oh. Danged if I can get this link thing to insert (no further comments please.)

Cut & paste browser job?????????

Perhaps in the UK but by '76 they had already achieved rock star status in the Southern rock genre.  Lynyrd Skynyrd was a must on long road trips through the vast expanses of wilds of the American countryside.

Cheers. Brilliant stuff.????????

For the life of me I can not seem to get the links/vids working.

Guess I would not have been employed as a roadie.

I have, for near on 50 years, found the whole Skynyrd story irresistible. Googling them is simply amazing, such as the reason Collins & van Zant wrote "That Smell" from Street Survivors. (Hint....can you upload for me?)????????

Similar to your comment, I saw Bad Company '75 or '76 in Adelaide.

Likely well entrenched in the UK but new music in Australia as 5KA only played Top40.

Spellbinding concert.????????

Lynyrd Skynyrd Street Survivors full album.

BTW, what other southern rock did you especially like?  Early to late 70's was the golden era.  I did a lot of road trips through the U.S. and we always loaded up with southern rock cassettes.  Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels, Allman Bros., Marshall Tucker, ZZ Top, Elvin Bishop, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, The Outlaws, Waylon and Willie, Johnny Winters, Black Oak Arkansas, Wet Willie, Hank Williams Jr., Pure Prairie League, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Grinderswitch, Dickie Betts & The Great Southern, etc.  Bluegrass as well.
