Popular Post Scott Posted January 20, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 20, 2023 A Florida judge sanctioned former President Donald Trump and one of his attorneys, ordering them to pay nearly $1 million for filing what he said was a bogus lawsuit against Trump's 2016 rival Hillary Clinton and others. In a blistering filing on Thursday, U.S. District Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks accused Trump of a "pattern of abuse of the courts" for filing frivolous lawsuits for political purposes, which he said "undermines the rule of law" and "amounts to obstruction of justice." "Here, we are confronted with a lawsuit that should never have been filed, which was completely frivolous, both factually and legally, and which was brought in bad faith for an improper purpose," he wrote. https://www.npr.org/2023/01/20/1150298957/donald-trump-frivolous-lawsuit-fine-alina-habba-clinton-comey-middlebrooks 2 7

Pity the fine was not relative to his means. Still at least its now on record that Trump is officially: "a prolific and sophisticated litigant" who uses the courts "to seek revenge on political adversaries." "He is the mastermind of strategic abuse of the judicial process," he wrote. 13 3 3

The findings said that he was definitely not absolved of wrongdoing and that in addition to that there was at least 10 examples of obstruction of justice by Trump. The report released by Bill Barr was a bogus coverup and did not reflect the actual report filed by the investigators. If you only watch FOX then you only heard the coverup version and none of the real facts. The DOJ has a long standing policy of not charging a sitting president. Hopefully they will open an investigation on that as well. Can add it to the other 63 ongoing investigation against him. He is a one man crime wave and needs to FINALLY be held accountable. 10 2 1 4

The judge in the case actually castigated Barr for misrepresenting the report. Mueller wrote in his report that were not for Justice Dept policy prohibiting criminal prosecution of a sitting president, he could have brought 10 criminal charges against Trump. 4 2 1 2

Popular Post thaibeachlovers Posted January 21, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 21, 2023 I'm not American and the US courts seem a very weird system to me ( eg suing a corporation because one thought it OK to put a hot drink where it could spill ), but as many cases seem to be "frivolous" this ruling seems politically biased to me. I hope Trump appeals and wins. 1 6

I hope Trump appeals and wins. America has a reputation for being overly litigious. Trump is the poster child. He sues people because he can. Nearly every lawsuit he initiates is frivolous. He sued an author once because the guy revealed Trump's wealth to be much less than he brags. Trump lost. But because most people don't have the means to deal with lawsuits (and the usual appeals), they'll settle. All of those election fraud lawsuits in 2020 were frivolous, clogging up our courts. Simply put, Trump is a menace to American society. 6 1
Tarteso Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 If reincarnation is real, what will Donald Trump be in the next life? A noodle vendor in Sukhumvit ? farmer in banana plantation in Buriram, Pianist in a brothel, beggar, Old man in Shangri-La ? ????

Although the headlines would have you believe otherwise, The McDonalds case wasn't actually a frivolous lawsuit, at the time McDonalds actually had a documented policy of serving their takeaway coffee at close to boiling point (so it traveled better and would still be hot when you got it home). spilling normal hot coffee (60 degress Celsius) would be a frivolous lawsuit, The McDonalds case was spilling coffee where the coffee was purposely sold at 100 degrees Celsius, knowing it would burn in the event of an accident, and not warning accordingly.

Trumpers like dear leader whine and moan if investigations move to slow or too fast...it's what they do...whine whine whine. DOJ moves very slowly as usual because unlike trumpers they don't go off half cocked with a bunch of theories and BS. They actually gather all the facts from documents and testimony. Then they determine what charges should be filed if any. None of us are privy to what evidence the DOJ actually already has or may still be double checking but I for one would bet they are being very careful to present only FACTS and not a bunch of tin hat conspiracies like the BIG LIE. Donnie will likely get his days in court where he can try and sell his side of the case to a jury and we will see how that works out when it becomes all about provable facts. 4 1 1

Well given that Mr Trump, if one is to believe the declaration on his tax returns (a very big "if" I will grant you!), is a dismally unsuccessful businessman who is effectively "broke" a fine relative to his means would amount to about ten bob! Mind you, I am sure that it will be a long wait until this fine is paid! 1

A good chance, if you do the math, that the someone will not be white, and the MAGA crowd couldn't care less. But if he did so on Main Street in, oh, let's say Lexington, Kentucky and the victim was white and male, they just might pay attention; probably will fall for whatever "they had it coming" excuse.
