Officers from the office of Thailand’s Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) seized six million methamphetamine pills, hidden in three vehicles, and arrested five men in Wiang Pa Pao district of the northern province of Chiang Mai earlier this week.

Justice Minister Somsak Thepsuthin said today (Wednesday) that anti-narcotics officers stopped a timber truck and two scout cars at a checkpoint in the district, after they had obtained information that a huge amount of drugs was to be transported, from storage in Mae Fah Luang district to two other storage places in Phrae and Ayutthaya provinces, before they were to be distributed in Bangkok and southern provinces.

The officers found bags of the pills hidden in the timber truck and both scout cars.

Good. More scum off the streets. I'd hate to think of how many lives these fools ruined with supplying them drugs.

Which of course will be publicly disposed of so the public can rest easily knowing they will never reach the streets.

Just north of CR, you can produce 6 million pills in probably 13 minutes.   Every farang who goes up North closes their eyes to the massive, massive, massive, incredible drug saturation problem.   CM, CR, everywhere up North.  It's like being a tourist in America, seeing a shooting, and saying, "Yea, the food and the views are amazing!!! selfie!!!"

America is still great with all their problems, and the North of Thailand is also great.  But there are problems.......and the drug problem runs deep, affects every school, most kids, all the poor, etc.......if it's not pills, it's booze.

And-when are they going to be destructed??

Never seen photo-ops of such "happening"...

And RTP love their photos taken.

Strange.......?? :-)

As long as the demand exists so will the supply. Same with all dope, going after the supply is a failed tactic. If you can curb the demand the supply will cease to exist but you would have to take away the enforcement money from the police and spend it on education and social programs. Unfortunately that is a non starter because the results would not be as dramatic as a truck load of confiscated dope.

An interesting "diversionary" route to the storage facilities in Phrae and Ayutthaya Provinces. Wiang Pa Pao is located on route 118 which links Chiang Rai with Chiang Mai thus by-passing most of Highway 1 with its known permanent road check-points. Then by using Routes 120, 103 and 101 Phrae can be reached. Continuing on 101 to Den Chai, route 11 is joined and thus an alternative route south to Ayutthaya, again avoiding most of Highway 1. Coincidentally, a similar haul of 6 million methamphetamine pills was seized last year in Wiang Pa Pao. (September 2022)

"Mae Suay police later stopped the other car on the highway between Tha Ko and Wiang Pa Pao.......  the motorist abandoned 31 bags holding 6 million meth pills"
