No laugh reaction anymore?

I agree completely. Just like others, I have seen posters who try to use Mods as weapons and are frequently successful in having posts removed, that's a sure fire way to make my ignore list and at least two posters are on it for that reason. But then of course, you'll be told that using the ignore list is childish and why should anyone care. Who cares what they say, if it means not having to read idiots posts again, it's worth it.

I don't think the moderators would remove a post that doesn't brake any rules. But now I'm worried as I am about to break one.

The way of the world these days. Wokeness and cancel culture. Too many people get triggered and playing the victim card. Like YouTube, it will only be possible to see the number of "likes" and not the number of "dislikes". The sad emoji went quite a long time ago too. Sure there are trolls but they can be ignored or blocked. Freedom of expression is important even if some don't like or agree with the comments. I choose not to engage in certain discussions or with certain members because it is easy to know what direction the discussion will head. My choice. Might as well stop all emojis FWIW. Or stop the forum. It's overloaded with far too intrusive and useless ads these days. I hope that AN does well from the revenue but do the advertisers really get a ROI? Like many, I want to contribute and help or enjoy but it increasingly it seems a fruitless pastime.

Often, these things are not black and white and cases can be argued both ways, in nautical terms it's called, sailing close to the wind. But yes, you're discussing moderation and we have rules covering that point.......mods, over here please. :))

Can't just disagree and be silent?

Look , its just a laugh emoji that has been removed .

Some posters were misusing the button and it got removed .

Try to keep things into perspective

Or it could be said the "one click" laugh emoji is gone, as you can still use the laugh emoji in your post via the keyboard as demonstrated by many in this topic.

This site is more boring without the laugh option.  I find myself less on this site than I used to be.  The AN site in general has gone downhill over the past few years.

The laugh emoji only got removed this morning .

Forums have been in decline for many years now , now that more platforms are available

A bit sad though, as it was a lot cheaper than buying half a dozen of "Bia Singh" and then get stitched up after the bar fight.

I have not had access to the laugh emoji for about 5 to 6  months. I would see a blank square with a number after it. I then perceived that that was the laugh emoji. It appeared some did have access and others like me did not.

How was it ?

Did you manage to survive OK ?

Did the woke people cancel you or did you manage to to continue living a normal life ?

How did it effect your life and well being ?

Some posters seem very concerned that their laugh button has been taken away from them

I'm trying to understand the perspective of how someone can misuse a small icon appearing underneath a post to the point that the poster would need to complain about it?

Wouldn't the only reply needed to the complainer be... "grow up", or "ignore it" ?

It looks like the woke paranoia is worse than I thought. The exploding heads at not being able to deliberately antagonise people and the "woke" labelling. As if anti woke is antisocial behaviour. Oh, wait.

Some posters use it just to annoy other posters and sometimes they follow other posters around the forums laughing at their posts , just because they got upset about something .

My reply would be to the serial laughers, would be to grow up or just ignore the post they got upset about

That's pretty close to the message the moderators did hand out on several occasions. Judging by all the dummy spitting we see here today it looks like subtle hints were never going to get the job done.

Maybe they can ban laughing in the real-not-forum-world soon as well.

My point is... how can you get annoyed by an emoji? It's a few small pixels on a screen.

I would get annoyed by someone throwing a dog turd into my garden, or someone I don't know coming up to me and laughing in my face in a real pub.

Annoyed by emojis on a forum? Really?

IMHO there is no such thing as misusing a laugh emoji.

There are no laws how such an emoji must be used - or else.
