Has the "Ukrainien-Fewer" reached Thailand?

If Putin had the capacity within his army to take Ukraine he would have managed that in short order post invasion a year ago.

He didn't. Why?

Because his troops are poorly trained, veery poorly equipped, and poorly led. Unmotivated at best.

The Ukrainians on the other hand showed their battle mettle and drove then back over large areas of the nation, despite being almost straight to the lines from office and other civilian jobs, and with little equipment in those first vital months of holding lines and denying easy gains to Russia.

You could same about the Americans Vs the Afgans, and the Americans Vs the Vietnamese.

Well trained high tech Vs desperate low tech isn't a foregone conclusion.

  • Half a million untrained drunks with no motivation to fight more like. But they are motivated to steal home appliances.

  • That's a good question about the level of Thai Interest. I would say very little.  Chances of formally offering asylum? Zero. Chances of labeling Russian draft dodgers as tourists?

  • I'd say it's pretty much a complete non-issue in Thailand.

Cutting down Social Security benefits is a trend that has started. Not only in France. But sending money to the ever growing community to "failed states" is on the upswing.

- The most FINANCIAL help for the Ukraine has come from 3 countries. The US, Germany and FRANCE. Under these condidions, I wonder how long it will be before the French will put their "Guillotines" back into action.

Financial aid to Ukraine Billions of USD:

United States 47.819

EU Institutions 34.993

United Kingdom 7.082

Germany 5.445

Canada 3.784

Poland 3.000

France 1.415

Norway 1.210

Netherlands 0.848

Sweden 0.806

Italy 0.672

Asked the Thai wife.

She said Thai don't think about Russia war. Not on TV news.

She also said the Russia young guy is good renter and if he friend don't want war he can come rent the other condo.

Lol at the Russian tankies. Russia isn’t coming out well in this… logistics nightmare after nightmare. NATO sending mostly soon to be obsolete prepositioned stock that was exclusively meant to be used against Russia anyways. NATO gets to let Ukraine whittle down Russia capabilities.

Nato isn’t an artillery centered force and so not set up logistically to support Ukraine this way. Not a major issue for defense. Russian supply lines are a joke… train based and can’t use European rail lol… in Paris lol… no. They struggle past 30km from the border 55555

Russia is just speeding up what was already a slowly approaching demographic crisis.

NATO won big here for cheap. It woke up the EU military industrial complex. Russia paid dearly for a small amount of land and no major strategic objectives. Ukraine has a chance to reclaim some land… but at what cost.

List of wars around the world the USA has participated in, it seems the US has never stopped being in a war.

Given their penchant for participating in global countries wars it seems strange that they have not actively entered into this war at the invitation of Ukraine.

Surely the UK must be at the top of the tree when it comes to wars, note Churchill, the British Empire??

Britain ruled over two thirds of the world only 100 years ago. the only time the British were the goodies was in two world wars against Germany.

We were always the goodies, bringing civilisation to the rest of the world (whether they wanted it or not).

and what is good about that? Unless a country is affected, it should keep out of other countries business.

But it's OK for the WHO and UN to interfere.

Going to war isn't the same thing as colonisation

Washing machines being most popular... what is it with Russians and washing machines???

You ever done laundry by hand? It's enough to make you declare war on your neighbor, commit war crimes and loot the country of its washing machines.

One hopes that one day the Russian elite put Putin through the wringer. I'd love to see a Qaddafi -style end given his fear of homosexuals.

Wow. That's a lot.

First 5 paragraphs seem to show a naivete of how governments work. They are biased towards the power, money, and influence - of course there will always be money for the military over citizens needs.

In the sixth paragraph you don't seem understand international trade or supply and demand. By letting the Chinese refine the gas rather than doing it domestically Russia helps balance it's trade deficit with China. Gas and oil prices were going up after Russia invaded whether it was USA or Martians selling it.

I just wish to welcome you ...to ma ignore liste....????

Yes, most thais in small cities don't even know where the Ukraine is.

You ignore motivation.

Afghans and Vietnamese were motivated to fight for their country. Iraqis were not motivated to fight for Saddam.

Conscripted Russians don't have great motivation.

Yep. No matter what the Ukraine or we do, it will always be 10:1 in favor of the Russians. The Donbas and the Crimea will remain Russian. In the Donbas most people speak Russian and feel Russian. The Crimea was Russian Territory since Katharina the great. Given as a gift to the Ukraine by Nikita Chrustschow in 1954.

That is the best the Ukraine can hope for.

To regain all "the lost" terrain is an Ukrainian illusion. Only bringing us nearer to the 3rd WW.

some actual information:

around the eastern border of Ukraine, there is a fairly large area that is culturally Ukrainian and Russian. The farther east, the more Russian, but even in Voronezh, there is Ukrainian cultural influence. And there is Russian influence in Ukraine at least as far west as the Dnipro river. its a continuum. That will probably end within a generation.

There was a good argument to be made about Crimea back in the day, but Russia forfeited its position when it invaded in 2014.

America is always Number 1.  always, yet they still get a bad rap.

If I was 10, I would say, "Give that money to the homeless!'  But I'm not 10.

Maybe build low-income housing with that money................maybe

or food..............yes.  use it to get the homeless fed.

hold on, the internet says only like 500,000 are homeless in America.  I haven't been back in 10-years.  I guessed that number was like 5,000,000.   It's NOT 500k, but who knows.

OK, use that money to get better cops.     maybe I'll go that route.

Shouldn't that be "all eyes"?

Far as I'm concerned, Thais are not daft enough to get caught up with something that's no concern of theirs. They are leaving it up to farangs to post about it on here.

Make that WW2, The first time was an atrocity against humanity that slaughtered the pride of British youth for no good reason ( I refer to the war itself as being for no good reason ). Millions sacrificed for the Great Game played by old men.

Going by the American military industrial complex, Europe may come to regret that.

Even Eisenhower warned against it.
