Should co-owners pay for EV scooter charging.

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

I've got a condo and have noticed more and more EV scooters.

A few of the residents are scooter owners, they are charging their EV's on common property from electrical outlets in car park.

This electricity is paid from the co-owners common fees.

I understand that they do not require a lot of electricity to charge but the numbers are climbing, I can see a day that there will be 100 of these unsafe Chinese vehicles in our car park.

They shouldn't be there! And if they are there, then, IMHO, they should be far away from any other vehicles and obviously the owners should pay for the electricity they use. They should also pay

  • I don't know but don't think the common areas electricity was envisaged to be used to charge or operate electrical goods on a regular basis for personal items.   Raise the issue at your cond

I dunno. Should coowners pay for lighting not on their floor? Should they pay for ANY amenities they don't use? Think about it.

Let me guess, you have a scooter and expect others to pay for charging. ????

Raise the issue at your condo management meeting.

I mentioned to the Juristic building manager that they can catch on fire and explode, they replied saying this is why we have car park security guard

But thanks for your input. ????

"unsafe" ... ????

The outlets were there, to be used by people, for whatever reason, before.   That they weren't used before is irrelevant.

If they added a new gym or pool, would you be crying, whether you use it or not.   If you did, should the rest of the owners who don't, foot the bill ?

No problem.

I just bought a new Tesla Model S Plaid, which I've been charging at home, I go to the condo everyday to use the swimming pool and gym, in future I'll drive my car and charge it daily.

BTW, how did you know I was crying?

Obviously another scooter owner.

They should also pay for an insurance in case one of those things decides to go up in flames. It's pretty sure that will happen, it's just a question of when.

Thanks for your reply, it's exactly what I was thinking.

Send an email to the management and tell them to stop this immediately. There is no need for further discussion. They are stealing from other owners. They have to pay for them.

Move.

As I said earlier, I don't live at the condo, only used for recreation.

This is an alarming issue, I have a few more condos around town, I went for a drive by yesterday to see the situation at the others. They all have these hideous Chinese EV scooters, one of the Condos has 4 or 5 scooters stacked up in the carpark corner, these cheap nasty vehicles will end up in land fill somewhere.

If it catches on around town and there are EV scooters everywhere, have no fear cause PC Plod will come to the rescue  and make it an offence to ride them on the roads.

Then people will use them on the footpath.

Personally I think those things should not be allowed. They are a risk on streets, they are a risk on footpath, and they are a risk when they are charged. Bad, bad, bad. Just ban them!

Is there lighting in the carpark. If the OP does not have a car does he still need to pay for that.

Never mind this is the type of asinine thread that keeps this forum going????

Typical Asean Now members.

You post an article of concern and all the haters come out of the wood work, with nasty comments (I'm sure this comment is meant to be funny ????).

Look if you are a scooter owner and want others to pay for your charging, good luck to you, but it's not fair.

Now, this comment is just weird.

I reckon I've opened a can of worms.

I'm sure that the members doing it tough, living in Thailand on their pensions, choose to ride these hideous vehicles.

I spoke about this issue in a recent Asean Now post of mine, always angry and miserable, now I see you all riding around town on your scooters with grumpy faces, then parking up and stealing electricity.

You have a fair complaint but TIT and your moan will get vilified like it or not.

EV's have taken off like a storm,  people use to moan about others parking in condos now it's EV vehicles charging.

I wouldn't live in a condo but I'd expect others in the condo will complain to management or buy an EV vehicle themselves.

Exactly, looking at one now.

If you can't beat them, join them.

I'm looking at this cool vehicle.

I'll charge it up for free, I'll become a selfish human and make others pay.

Cool,  ride safe and enjoy only having to pay a small amount for fuel.

So you pay no maintenance fees to the Condo Juristic office to cover those common areas?  Try again.

Your not charging it up free if you pay CAMO fees to the juristic office.  All units pay this fee, I know I do twice a year for my condo in BKK and it covers the maintenance, electricity used in the common areas, security etc.....
