Popular Post webfact Posted March 4, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 4, 2023 Picture: Siam Rath Three drunk Thai men who produced a large knife and showed a gun in a robbery attempt of a foreign tourist in the Khao San area last night offered every excuse about their behavior. They have been charged with robbery and are currently being held at the Nang Loeng police station. They deny everything and have even blamed the tourist. The Chana Songkram police chief praised officers on the beat and the public for being the eyes and ears of the force after the men were taken into custody, reported Siam Rath. The drama unfolded outside the Tang Hua Seng department store in Banglamphu, Bangkok. Chana Songkram officer Pol Lt-Col Mondech Manaem went to the scene where officers on the beat had already controlled the situation. A Romanian tourist we shall call Y.B., aged 28, had been on his way last night to catch a bus for a trip to Koh Kood. He was allegedly accosted outside the store by three drunk Thai men. Natthawut, 25, a trader, threatened the tourist with a one foot long knife. Sorawee, 24, unemployed, showed him a gun he had tucked into his waistband in an effort to scare the tourist. Natthaphon, 24, a hairdresser, was standing there part of the alleged robbery attempt. file photo Natthawut demanded money. The tourist was so scared that he produced 1,800 baht and a Xiaomi phone worth 36,000 baht. But as he was laying the phone on the ground police arrived on the scene. The tourist was uninjured and got all his property back. All three men denied robbery and came up with several excuses for their behavior. They said they were in the area to sell marijuana and that the tourist had put his pinky to his nose, a sure sign that he wanted to buy cocaine. They claimed that after telling him they had none, the tourist erupted and went for them aggressively. The knife was therefore used in self defence. As regards the gun that was a Thai made one that had a broken barrel. It was not used in any threatening mannner and was probably seen by the tourist as Sorawee's shirt was quite short and rode up revealing the weapon, they claimed. They said the tourist put the phone on the ground just as the police came up. They admitted to being drunk but were not on drugs. The police chief of Chana Songkram - the station at the end of Khao San Road - said that the suspects had the right to deny the crime. But they were all held and charged with robbery. Pol Col Sanong Saengmanee praised his officers on the beat for their quick response after members of the public alerted them to the robbery in progress. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2023-03-04 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Popular Post CrunchWrapSupreme Posted March 4, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 4, 2023 I know exactly how they come up with these lame excuses, one after another. They learn it in school. Whenever there's incident, a fight, a theft, serious misbehavior, the group is called into the office to sit on the floor around a teacher's desk. Then they are grilled. The teacher tries to get them to admit fault, and they quickly learn how to dodge and deflect. This goes on for 5-10 mins and the students are let go. There are almost never any consequences. The lesson they then learn is, not to fix the problem, not to change behavior, but to just keep throwing out excuses to eventually get it over with, and move on. 11 1 1

This may be true but In the western world they admit to it but just claim mental illness or a poor upbrigning And get a slap on the wrist 6

soalbundy Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 Arrested, how civilized. About 20 years ago an Englishman told me he was having his bar renovated on Koh Samui, the workers complained that two days in a row some of their tools had been stolen overnight, so he waited that night to see if the thief would return. Sure enough he caught a Thai teenager red handed and his wife called the police. When he handed him over to the two cops they asked the falang what he wanted done with him, surprised he said you're the police, arrest him. They just shook their heads and said the teen wasn't worth the trouble so they took him outside and broke both his arms......as a warning they said nonchalantly and then drove off leaving him groaning in pain. 1

Bim Smith Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 In collectivist Thailand it's society as a whole that bares responsibility not the individual. They are taught this from an early age which the whole "saving face" thing is. It's childlike culture is on full view. That's why I often hear "you no understand Thai culture". Unfortunately I do. 1 1
