But prostitution is the topic and while you defend it you also complain about the outcome of marrying one and her family, so how can you have been happy to marry one? Some might say som nam na, but it's a mistake many made before the internet era and when they knew little about about Thailand and culture.

I've married an educated (degree) Brit virgin schoolteacher (my age) from a good family (2 years between meeting any marrying).......... she was a complete lying, unfaithful, asset stripping c@#%

I've also married a (left school age 12) Thai hooker (20 years younger) from an awful family (2 weeks between meeting and marrying) .... she was really nice.

 

Had more sex with the Thai lady in the first year, than I did with the Brit virgin in 30 years. Obviously if you don't have much in the way of sex drive, you'd be OK with the cold (normal) one from your home country.

It depends.

When I was younger and always horny it was very important - especially when it was not easily available.

One advantage of getting older is that the hormones are not so very important anymore. Not horny all the time and sex is not so important anymore. 

Nothing will ever stop the everlasting stampede to Thailand. 

 

For all my belly aching it's the best place in the world. 

 

Fortunately there's pleasantly boring temples and tourist traps for the "Morality Police" who don't enjoy the most beautiful women on the planet.

I went from wanting to do it 2x every day in my 20s (but nobody to do it with), to doing it 2x a day in my 50s, to 2x a week in my late 60s.

I can see from this thread that some guys went from wanting to do it once a month in their 20s, to not at all in their 60s.

I visited Pattaya about 17 times never went to a bar or had sex not everybody goes to Pattaya for sex my wife graduated from a university my in-laws where teachers my MIL has a master's degree and my nephew is just about to become a specialised doctor, my friend runs a salon. daughter and son work at the Hilton so don't bash Pattaya all the time.

Pattaya as a single man only socially around bars and nightclubs, can easily live in the bubble this is Thailand and how thai women is. I know it is not, but sadly, that's the impression many have even after many years in Thailand. 

 

In our family many have education and solid work around in Thailand, where they managed to send their kids to universities from a Isan village.

I've never lived in Pattaya, I live in a middle class Thai moobaan just outside Chiang Mai full of Thai men and women with degrees.

And they're exactly the same as the Thais in Pattaya. The wives play around, the husbands have mistresses, the children are left with grandparents (when they're not at their private schools).

It’s mostly greed that drives them to prostitution. The lure of easy money and potentially scoring a farang husband. They don’t wanna work like the vast majority of their sisters in low paying (but honest) jobs.

Many people here seem to know so much about the girls and their lives and their motivations. And the people who would never go with any of them think they are the biggest experts. Strange.

 

Is so difficult to agree that there are many reasons why girls start in that business and stay in the business or leave the business? No, they are not all the same! Some girls need money to raise their children, maybe because the (Thai) father of their child or children left them alone without money or support. Others want a house and calculate it's much easier to be able to afford that house with 3000B per hour instead of 12k per month. Others want the newest phone or bag to show off. Some like the lifestyle in the bars. Some just like to f#%# and many other reasons. And all these elements could be combined. And sometimes they change from one main motivation to another motivation. It's not as easy as: all girls do it because of reason x.

Over the years I spoke with at least a thousand girls in that business and with bar managers and others. And I still know that my opinion is exactly that, my opinion. It's not a statistic survey with reliable conclusions. So please all you experts, don't pretend you know exactly what is going on. You don't!

I tend to agree with you. I worked with Thai companies employing thousands of factory workers. My wife is from a small community in issan. So I have some knowledge about this topic. Young girls choosing prostitution do not have taking care of family as their main reason. They want easy money for selfish reasons and laziness. A descent Thai woman would rather eat rice all day, work 6 days a week, 12 hours a day and save her money than be humiliated by some dirty old farang.

Obviously that is an option for such a decent Thai woman. And hopefully it will make her happy.

 

But how many farangs would want to marry such a decent Thai woman? Personally, I prefer girls who like to be sexy, who like to go out and have fun and spend money and enjoy life. And I don't care if I am not the first one. In fact, it is an advantage if she has already some experience with guys and real life.

 

Everyone of us can decide how we want to make our money and how we want to spend it. Some jobs are paid better and some worse, and some of us accept kao pat and others like king crabs. 

And some hard-working guys like to establish a family with such decent Thai women and others like to party with party girls. Anybody up to their taste. We don't all look for the same and want the same.
