5-year olds pay ฿150 but 61-year olds pay just ฿80 for 1.5 hours.

The price for adult thai is 15.

Non thai people have to pay 10 times more expensive (150).

See/download the file.

Don't expect a lot of tourists coming any time soon if they know that they will get this discriminatory attitude.

You don’t get it... its not about the money at all.... It's about the underlying discriminatory attitude that such behaviour expresses.

 

It is these practices themselves which are cringeworthy, as is the ignorance expressed in such comments as yours which shrug off and diminish such attitudes because its ‘only 300 baht’....

Unfortunately, those employing such practices will never understand why this is wrong, they can’t be re-educated, they are locked into their underlying discriminatory attitudes - this all stems from the message the government sends out that dual-pricing is acceptable and is state sanctioned in hospitals and national parks.

 

I have never seen one argument that justifies dual pricing based on nationality or race.

Any examples people provide in attempt to justify dual pricing can be easily countered

Any examples people provide in attempt to justify dual pricing because it happens ‘in the west’ is easily countered because those examples are based on age, sex or residency (and local residency) and never based on nationality alone.

Before it comes to the dual pricing, I would refuse it for the medical certificate

What makes you think that he's "a citizen of Thailand" when he's complaining about fees for foreigners?  If he's a Thai citizen hell be paying Thai prices.

It's been like that for years, most tourists probably know but don't care about B300.  How many tourists come here for Lumpini's swimming pool?!

Find a different pool.  Otherwise, you're stuck with the discriminatory pricing as even the Thai justice system has ruled that price discrimination is perfectly Ok.  What con you do other than boycott. The more 'foreigners' you can get to boycott, the more leverage you'll have.

The notice seems to be saying that these fee increases are due to "the covid-19 situation".

 

Perhaps tell them that the "covid-19 situation" has ended and they can also end their dual pricing.

The Op also also provided the link where it shows Thai’s adults are charged 15 Baht. 

 

Its quite incredible that the place is so very cheap which is excellent for the community. But this facet of dual pricing is also somewhat offensive to potential foreign customers. 

I imagine there are very few foreigners using the facilities anyway - so its not as if they are increasing their income to invest in the facilities etc...  the dual pricing is just a very clumsy practice, the optics are poor from every angle.

We lived in house without a pool for a couple of years - I used to take my Son to the local public pool. 

No hint of dual pricing: 70 baht (30 for him / 40 for me), staff were friendly and we often ended up chatting a little with a couple of Thai folk we’d see there regularly.

 

If this place had employed dual pricing it would have given me the impression that I’m not welcome. It may well have also given the Thai’s using the facilities and the staff the impression that foreigners are ’second class citizens’ and we may not have been treated with a ‘warm welcome’ or just the expected degree of ’normalcy’...

Do I have to state the obvious?  Its their country, for their citizens, developed and operated for Thais.  They quite rightly look after their own,  That is not discrimination, its sensible in a developing country where wages are low and the standard of living for most is also low.  If you don't like it, either ignore it, put up with it, or leave. Just stop whining about it.

I am a citizen of Thailand now , but I don't have the nationality.... and I pay taxes here and I am still threated as a foreigner, with double pricing

What would happen if Thais are being double priced in a western country????
