Thaksin back in Thailand on May 16th - calls for a landslide election victory to get country out of a "black hole"

Thaksin Shinawatra - AKA P' Tony to his many followers on Facebook live broadcasts under the CareTalk brand - was at his rhetorical best in his latest broadcast, notes ASEAN NOW.

 

Banners on the broadcast clearly stated that he would be back two days after the general election that takes place on May 14th.

 

The banner said "see you very soon after the election - May 16th", reported Siam Rath.

 

Thaksin - a fugitive from Thai justice but a former leader who hopes his party can sweep to power and inspire his triumphant return to Thailand - said that his country was in a "black hole of misery".

 

Everyone of his followers must go to the polls and vote to end this.

 

He called for a landslide victory so that control of the future could be guaranteed for the good of the people and democracy.

 

He called the election "historic" as he urged his voters to return a better quality of life.

 

With better law and order, human rights and above all the return of democracy.

 

Everyone had been telling him that had been sorely lacking in most of the last decade.

Which ever way this goes I don't think it's going to be good. IMO a period of instabilty awaits and as usual the elephant in the room is the army and the senate.

Then he can be pardoned by his own daughter?

Welcome back Thaksin, rightful PM of Thailand. The old elite have grown fat at the trough and a stirring of the pot is needed.

Hopefully, this time you'll be in power long enough so that another repeat of the endless coup cycles  will no longer be possible.

Hopefully you will reverse the old dinos' shameful disqualification of people like Tanathorn so that one day maybe, just maybe.......

I love the way many people who claim to be the good guys, and claim to support the moral and good choice of candidate, also gently threaten those who support the "bad guys" or question/doubt the "good guys" with consequences once the "good guys" win.

 

If your team or your candidate is planning any kind of revenge or punishment for anyone who supported the opposing team, you are not the good guys.

1. The Reds is not my team and Thaksin is not my candidate. I just happen to think that whoever gets legally and democratically elected should be allowed to serve their terms and not be subjected to coups.

With the return of democracy, all things change including human rights and rule of law because people can vote the government out if nothing improved.

My question included whether democracy could return if Thaksin came back into power.  Obviously their MO is industrial level vote-buying, gambling with public money to fund the vote-buying, suppression of free-speech, changing laws to allow corruption, and human rights violations.

 

If Thaksin comes into power, it is unlikely that people will be able to vote him out if they do not like what he does.

But an elected one, not one who got his place through a coup. And an elected snout can be removed in an election. A "coup snout" can not.

Vote buying has been around before Thaksin. The Dem Party has the deepest pockets with their big corporate sponsors. Vote buying don't guarantee loyalty at the ballot boxes. Korn even admitted that fallacy. Ultimately people choose the government based on what they can deliver to the betterment of the people. Thaksin did delivered and the people responded because they like what he did.

Thaksin took it to a whole new level.  You should look it up.  Especially the "rice pledge scheme".  It's like something from a Hollywood movie.

 

In most places, people would remember what Thaksin did in the past and would never vote for him again.  In Thailand they simply think "he gave me money, I like him".

 

People are free to vote for him, of course, it's just funny when someone says something about democracy, human rights, or law and order when discussing a Thaksin proxy being elected.
