Well, it will destabilise the baht, so silver linings and all that

Interesting comment. It seems like every time they say the baht will destabalise it strengthens.

Basically he is low on funds and wants to come back so he can steal more money from the Thai people.

And you know this how, exactly?

Do you have access to all his bank accounts and funds, or are you simply spouting rubbish?

Yes IMO they can.

However the charges against Thaksin were brought under the direction of the military coup which illegally ousted him in 2006.

If the coup was illegal (and it was), then the charges must be illegal as well.

Do you know how many successful coups Thailand has had since 1932?

You are dreaming if you think Thaksin will (a) return and (b) will return without being arrested

No, the elephant is Thaksin. He should stay in the desert or go to jail.

Go to prison for what?

But they cannot stop him returning. He is a Thai citizen and has the absolute right to return if he so wishes.

They can make it very difficult for him, but he has millions of supporters who would support him.

IMO if the military were to have yet another coup against him, they would be outnumbered by Thaksin's supporters.

I seem to remember people saying there wouldn't be a coup in 2014, as there were so many in the lower ranks of the army from the northeast who supported Thaksin.

He is a convicted criminal, sentenced to prison multiple times.

It was all over the news for years. Maybe you should inform yourself before asking stupid questions.

And a coup leader is not a criminal?  There are courts to sort that out...not generals with tanks.

If he loses, he is dead meat, if a winner, he stands a chance of having his picture on a few walls and maybe a currency!

If there is a majority opposition winner in May, I truly doubt that he'll be accused or charged with anything.

The most dangerous aspect will be that he and circle are still hanging around.

Forced exile sounds nice, though.

Rumours of a secret deal between Pravit and Thaksin emerged after the wife of a close friend of Pravit was placed no 22 on Pheua Thai's party list.

The price for Thaksin to come home, Pravit as PM ?

Keep dreaming if it makes you happy.

It must be tough being a Thaksin fanboy...................living in the forlorn hope that one day he will ride back into Thailand on his charger, like a white knight.

It must be tough having a simple, binary mind:  Either one supports the coup and military government or one supports Thaksin.  I don't give a damn about Thaksin, I am very much opposed to coups against legitimately elected democratic governments.

Not as tough as it must be to be a supporter of illegal military coups.

After all the TRT and their follow up parties have won every legal election since the year 2000, cluding 2004 where Thaksin and the TRT won legally an overall majority in parliament. The only way that they were removed, was once again by a military coup, and NOT by an election

Yep..............and life goes on.

Isn't it wonderful?    I cannot think of anywhere that I would rather be.

Thaksin has won.
Junta lovers, time to drown your sorrows.

In the not too distant future, Move Forward will win an election and form a government and Thailand will officially join the democratic nations of the world.
To all the expat cowardly closeted fascists who have cheered on the right wing murderous thugs over the past 20 years……

HaHa

Losers.

Suffer in ya jocks.

Thaksin is NOT welcome in the southern border provinces of Pattani, Narathiwat and Yala and eastern Songkhla Province.

We will never forget the Tak Bai Massacre, which happened under his watch and he did nothing to prevent it.

Stay away, Mr. Thaksin!

People better vote for the MFP or Mr. Wan Noor of Prachachart Party, which do value Muslim lives and the Malay culture of the deep south.

Any other party is better than Thaksin or the military-aligned UNdemocrats.

Under the assumption that the army obeys Thaksin.

But that applies only to the provinces you mention.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Provinces_of_Thailand

There are a total of 76 provinces of Thailand are part of the government of Thailand that is divided into 76 provinces (Thai: จังหวัด, RTGS: changwat, pronounced [t͡ɕāŋ.wàt̚]) proper and one special administrative area (Thai: เขตปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นรูปแบบพิเศษ), representing the capital Bangkok.[3][4][5] They are the primary local government units and act as juristic persons. They are divided into amphoe (districts) which are further divided into tambon (sub districts), the next lower level of local government. Each province is led by a governor (ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัด phu wa ratchakan changwat), who is appointed by the central government.

The last time I looked the voters choose the candidates they wish and then the party they wish in a province and it is a majority rule.

If you want a national party to represent you, the Anutin and the BJT party are desperate for MPs and votes in the coming election.

Wonder if all this has been approved.
