Just a guess but the govt may make a deal to allow Mr. T back so they can still choose the PM. Home or hotel arrest seem likely.

Glad you put people first. Thai people decide not the courts nor the military.

Thai courts should be involved if there is a case against the person and there is reasonable thought that they are guilty.  If not the corruption that we see continues.

Yes the people should have their say but they need to be educated and understand that politicians make promises but that does not mean they will carry them out.

PT for instance has said "if we win the majority"  we will give everyone 10,000 baht raise in the minimum wage and ensure that every BA grad gets min 25k a month.

The catch is if we win the majority.  That does not mean if we are the government it means that hey would have to win 50% plus 1 of the seats and the way this election and past elections have gone that is not likely.

So their out is simply we did not win the majority of seats so even though we are in power we do not have to honour our promises.

Oh no! Does this mean he was telling porkies about the 10K Baht he will give every Thai in a digital wallet too? The GF has already spent it, she'll be mortified, lol!

Thailand Corruption Perception Index has not improved last 2 decades. There are notable corruption cases involving the military and those political allies that have not been adjudicated. Former constitutional judge had admitted that political expediency were involved in some judgemental verdict. Fight against corruption must continue but the transparency leave much to desire.

The eligibility for Thai voters are that they are Thai national, over 18 years and registered. Education plays no part in voters eligibility. They should not be prejudiced and discriminated based on education. POliticians make policies in their campaigning need to have the details yo clarify source of finance. Ultimately they will answer to the voters.

Personal I think that the wage proposals are long overdue. Wages are exploted by big corporates. Thailand need to moved out of the low wage economies to attract FDI. The labour intensive businesses have to move to cheaper wage countries. Thailand has to climb up the value chain economies. Invest in human capital and pay the workers the right dues.

The reason Phue Thai has win elections after elections is that they always live up to their campaign promises. If they don't, the voters would have voted them out times after times.

Some specific examples please.

"Thaksin Shinawatra will not return home and immediately put himself behind bars under court convictions"

i get that his return is unlikely and the headline is most probably a slightly poor translation but that aside.....the headline says nothing about that he does not return but rather that he would not "put himself behind bars" regardless of the "return"

Exactly. So if his supporters win a landslide in the House of Representatives and are in government would the King issue Royal Pardons to him and sister. If the King did that they would both be back for sure.

But what about The Senate?  Packed with conservative military heads and ex military all appointed by the National Council for Peace and Reconciliation. Remember that? Set up by the military following the 2014 coup.

The PM is not necessarily the leader of the majority party in the HoR. As I understand it The PM is appointed by a combined session of the newly elected HoR and the Senate under the new constitution. It's a clever provision that critics say will almost always ensure the military has the last word in elections and any government then formed.... without that landslide victory Thaksin calls for which I've read is 376 HoR seats out of the 500 in total.

Isn't  there a statue of limitation for crimes in Thailand, if so how long is it, and if that time has elapsed

He should come home with the Red Bull Heir "Boss"

I'm sure there will be a big welcoming party for them both
