Popular Post webfact
Photo via TikTok @fourthlpss by Petch Petpailin A 20 year old drunk driver crashed his Mercedes-Benz into a motorcycle taxi driver on the Rama 9 Road in Bangkok. The driver was caught on camera fleeing the scene of the accident with the victim still clinging to the car bonnet. On Tuesday, a Thai TikToker posted a video of an incident at the Rama 9 intersection which occurred on April 16. The video shows several orange-jacketed motorbike taxi drivers – or “win” drivers – surrounding the car. One win driver, the victim, lay on the car bonnet in an effort to stop the assailant from fleeing, reports CH8. Despite the win driver’s efforts, the driver darted away from the scene at a high speed moments later – with the victim still clinging to the Mercedes’ bonnet. The video went viral on TikTok with netizens expressing concern for the victim and wondering what happened after the clip ended. Yesterday, officers from the Makkasan Police Station reported that the driver was a 20 year old man who was under the influence of alcohol. He had been drinking at an entertainment venue called Royal City Avenue (RCA) before the accident occurred. @fourthlpss Replying to @Alex Iamsahakiet ♬ เตรียมตัวออกเดินทางได้ - Djpaoremix Full story: https://thethaiger.com/news/national/drunk-hit-and-run-driver-in-bangkok-flees-scene-with-victim-clinging-to-bonnet-video -- © Copyright Thaiger 2023-04-21 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Yep, and add: come in to pay the 10Baht (if you really want to), whenever convenient, or we can send a senior out to your house to pick up the cash or you can pay the officer by QR code. 5 1

Popular Post Will B Good
The penalty for this offence is imprisonment for two to six years, a fine of 40,000 to 100,000 baht, and the suspension or revocation of the driver’s license. Hands up anyone who believes he will receive this, or even any one of these penalties. 6

The Mercedes-Benz driver negotiated a settlement of 50,000 baht and has already paid 20,000 baht" OUTRAGEOUS overcharging for such a short ride, dwarfing the 700 baht charged by another recent taxi driver recently to much opprobrium….and he didn’t even use his own vehicle either ! ???? 1

Popular Post 2009
This is hilarious, actually. Only in Thailand. I'd probably drive away too if I had an angry gang around my car. I know an Isaan guy who almost got killed by an angry mob of villagers after he hit someone. I think the law says: you have to stop or if you don't stop you must go to a police station immediately. Which is a sensible policy considering you might get lynched in Thailand if you stop. 2 1

What, by endangering someone's life by driving off at very high speed with someone you hit initially hanging onto your bonnet. A little slip - could have very easily have ended in murder.. Should be seen as such...
Popular Post 2009
To be fair, at the point at which he drove away I don't think it could legally be considered a hit n run. The accident had happened. The driver didn't flee. No hit n run. The motorbike guy was laying on his bonnet intentionally. I dunno what you would call that legally (besides dumb). All the other guys were gathering around, some angry. I think some trying to force the driver out of the car or to get into the locked vehicle. This is probably illegal. The driver was intimidated by their actions and drove off. At this point, I don't think it's a hit n run. So long as the driver went straight to the police as per the law, I reckon no charges besides careless driving for the initial accident (if the initial accident was even the car driver's fault) They tried to take the law into their own hands and messed up. 3 2

It was not the accident in progress. The accident was a separate event. It looked like they were trying to get into the locked vehicle or trying to get the driver out. If either of which had transpired, the driver could have been on the receiving end of a violent gang attack, so he/she fled to safety. Fair enough. I don't think the motorcycle drivers had any right to do that to someone after an accident. They should let the police handle the matter. The problem with leaving it to the police though is that they know how it will end; with the taxi rider being charged for damage to the car, or something equally as idiotic. Hence this trend of vigilante justice we see here. Just my opinion. 1
mikeymike100
So I am assuming 'designated driver' doesn't translate into Thai? Or failing that this 20 year old driving a Merc could not afford a Taxi? He needs to be hit with full prison sentence and fine and lose his license for good? Will that happen..................????? NO!

But the motorcycle taxi driver seemed to sustain no injuries from the actual accident itself, but rather from his own actions from how he treated someone's property. I don't think the driver should be held responsible for his injuries as he was willingly laying on the car. Clearly a wannabe police officer. He's due a career change, haha 3 1

And that also goes to the others who made inane comments about what must have been a terrifying incident. It's depressing how social media and forums such as this expose so many who actually have nothing to say except rubbish. 2 1 3
