What does the election mean for the Farang community?

Featured Replies

I don't follow Thai politics at all so I'm curious, what do the election results mean for us fellow Farang? Good news, bad news?

I can't see it making much, if any difference at all.

Unless the yellow shirts come back in which case they will be a nuisance if they're in an area near to where any of us live.

That I could care about less. More concerned over anti foreigner sentiments and new visa rules etc...

Nothing.

Same same but different.

getting rid of the 90 days report would be nice

Nothing, same as in my home country/USA, whether I lived there or not.

Just a little less so here/TH, if that is even possible.

Why I didn't vote in national elections, no matter who wins, nothing changes, as they are all the same, no matter what they say, or party they belong to.

Yeah cause devoting 5 mins to do it every 90 days is such an arduous task !!

If it works for you.  It does not work for me since I got a new passport.

its not about the 5 minute work, living in a country where you must report to your parole officer every 90 days, maybe yall like to be treated that way, i am sure don't.

Well ya know the answer to that attitude, heat in kitchen saying comes to mind.

Except when it doesn't work online, and then your try to do it face-to-face in the province you happen to be visiting, and they say you can only do it in the province where you have your "permanent" address.

That would be you problem, not immigration.

Go to Immigration and sort it for the next 5 minute online report

Don't you think I have tried that?

They say I have to leave and re-enter to get back into the on-line system.  I have been told this on at least the last four occasions by CM IO.

ObamaCare comes to mind as a counter example.

Disagree completely, but for another topic, as way off topic

I doubt any election has changed anything for farangs in the past, so why would this one change anything?

I doubt farangs are of any interest for the vast majority of Thais living outside the few tourist areas that have more than a few farangs
