My solution to loud music is to fight fire with fire.  I play Wagner operas at high volume with speakers facing the late night revelers, only I do it early in the morning when they are usually hungover.  I never have had to do it more than once - ohh, and my other Thai neighbors thanked me for ending the late at night racket.

Held back on the napalm this time? Good  for you!

The problem is Foolish foreigners never learn.

Most are school dropouts, they're unable to learn

Amazing tokill someone because of missing sound-insulation in your home for windows walls and doors but expecting everyone to cut down their lifestyle. If a Bluetooth speaker bothers- then something is wrong with your own place. Hope this Thai will rotten in Prision.

It's called respect, remember? Noise travels OUTSIDE your property and affects other people. It's not you everyone else's responsibility to manage your audio levels.

Obviously alcohol fueled, my  neighbour plays Morlum music at 7am, I tolerate it,

Sounds like your neighbor has a respect problem. Since when is playing music at 7am ok? It bothers many Thai people also but they have been conditioned to not saying anything and keep quiet.

Had a Canadian here that did played loud American rock music at his house because he was fed up with the neighbours constant loud music. He bought big speakers to do it. They complained to the Police who promptly came round to his house to tell him to turn it off. When he pointed out about his neighbour he got told Thai music is OK. Go figure

It is the neighbours, the villagers, the temples, people using the park, markets.......every single one of them has a huge PA systems that they put on full volume at the least excuse.........it is just ridiculous

move it's not worth the madness. You'll thank yourself later. These constant disruptions play on your mind and cause literal madness eventually.

Right, I get it. ????

At times it's the same for me. (And even more than the excessive volume, it's the heavy bass settings (to the max!) that trouble me the most!????)

I live in Isaan......and it is, on occasions, absolute hell.

I have, and still am, seriously considering leaving my wife.

Move out of the village and to a more civilised way of life closer to the city. I did this three months ago away from all the stupidity in the village.

I did leave once for a week.....gave in and came back.....then had a trip to the UK, which took the pressure off for a while....but back in the thick of it now.

Moving to Isaan is, for me, the biggest mistake of my life.......and I've made a lot of big mistakes.

Why did they have to do an inquest in the UK.  I am sure that a full report would have been done in Thailand. The crime was in Thailand.  Why is the British government involved.

Because this is an ‘out and out cold blooded murder’ of a British Citizen and the British government can now pressure the Thai authorities to apply the most stringent sentencing of this murderer.

you could have moved to Kiev. Always look on the bright side of life. seriously, WHY do expats move to Isaan

For me it was a 'forced' move.....I was happy living a condo life in BKK.....but she bought the land, commissioned the house.....all her money......then told me about it when it was built!!!

I remember last year you were talking about building some house for your wife and being worried about a bar opening nearby. I guess that turned out as bad as you thought it would?

Probably a small Soi area there with about 20 odd units with 90% ferrang who know each other there. If you have never been to Kanchanaburi you will not know that nearly all ferrangs who socialise know each because of the community in the town and local areas. And of course family and close friends connection.

reminds me of the villagers in Apocalypse Now

Very strange. Usually it is the Thais who create the noise. And usually the Thais barely even hear noise, much less get annoyed by it. One would think this could have been resolved with a friendly conversation. If I were in his position, and a neighbor complained about my music bothering them, I would most certainly turn it down.

Looks like the tiny man Prasut Thipthep over reacted, just a bit. One evening of loud music, and now his life as he knew it is over. And so is someone elses. What a bizarre, stupid, ridiculous, petty, immature, and undeveloped man Prasut Thipthep is. I hope he is sentenced to a long prison term (an immediate death sentence would be far more appropriate), and makes alot of close friends in prison, where he will learn the meaning of real noise.

By all reports, they weren’t upsetting anyone.

There was a speaker there... but no reports of it being played.

It was reported at the time that people who live in the same street nearby did not hear any music at all.

The guys were simply sat there having a beer... its something we’ve all done at point point in time or another.

Lot of dogs are poisoned in our village......nobody takes care of them even though they a associated with certain houses....they are left to howl.......yet another joy of Isaan (village) life.

truly one of the most cruel ways to kill an animal. can take days of agony . although we're a smallish village (in NST) we have contact with Soi Dog and, we have a facebook group that tried to find homes for strays. before you move here - its boring.

Funnily enough.....no!!!

The do have their karaoke, but it is once or twice a week for a couple of hours, then nothing for two or three months.....and it is strangely (to me) only on a morning....9 till 11.

It pales into insignificance with funerals (the worst, and there is one a week, minimum), prayers for the village????, the local market, special temple events......and an outdoor badminton club that must have a sound system playing full blast before they can play.

Yeah that sounds like she chose a terrible location to build a house. maybe it's not her fault because she didn't know how bad this is for us but you can't live like that.

I think we don’t know all the story

Go back to the news from Jan 2022.... there is plenty on the news from that Time that wraps up a lot of the information missed in this latest ‘lazy’ article.
