It’s a scary time for us’: Florida Pride organizers on edge amid safety fears

The "protect the children" gambit excuse for persecution of a minority group is a classic tactic of scapegoating powers. Refer to blood libels.

I love how homophobic posts so often talk about stuff being forced on their faces  Very revealing.   You're not sorry.

Why not?  Drag queens are part of British pantomime tradition, as are people like Danny La Rue, Lily Savage and Dame Edna.

What about protecting me from seeing guys with their butt cheeks hanging out of leather s&m outfits. No hetero male should be subjected to those sights!

That sounds like hate and oppression pal!

I have no objection to what anyone chooses to wear in private.

Not explicit shows for children they are not....the pants tradition has no innuendo.

I'm sorry but if you think British pantomimes, Lily Savage et al have no innuendo, you can't have seen them!

No it's just decent people concerned about the material the kids are being exposed to in the 'education' system. Seems like there are a lot of 'fascists' including christian, muslims and ordinary people who are opposed to it.

People get fooled by the gambit. Look at history.

Funny how this wasn't an issue until the right-wing propaganda machine started grinding out it's pablum for the easily duped and outraged.

I'm always amazed at how many sheeple get reeled in by, and led by their noses by, obvious manipulation.

No I'm not sorry and I also would not take children to see drag queen shows. Guess you would??

Why not, it is just a bit of fun. Do you feel insecure?

Kids are definitely being exposed to sexual propaganda in the American school system, Rev John talks about a book for 10 year olds and up

These days, nobody cares about gay marriage or what adults do in the privacy of their own homes.

Nonsense, in most countries gay marriage is forbidden.

LGBT do these events to try to antagonize and create situations. Why would someone trying to assimilate into society go out of their way to draw attention? In hopes of being able to play the victim card.

So you'd be happy if they just jumped back in the closet?

They NEED to bring attention to this problem because too many homophobes MAKE problems for them. They're not PLAYING the victim, they ARE victims.

Yes, and in the U.S. there are right wing forces trying to reverse it.

They succeeded in killing Roe v. Wade, so with a loaded supreme court, it's possible.

They were the victims, today it kids who are the victims

A course in gay history is about the same importance as teaching about Nigerian basket weaving.

I would change that into religion.

What is it about Florida?

That would be bad enough but fascist DeSantis is running for president and trying to Make America Florida.

Hyperbole much? Nobody is "coming for" anyone.  Live and let live is the idea, but keep your kinks private.

Here is a bible verse for you:

Leviticus

“If a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman, both men have committed a detestable act. They must both be put to death, for they are guilty of a capital offense.

There was a time when gays and lesbians just wanted to be accepted like everybody else.

I think most of us accept them.

But then, I don't know when it started, some of them decided to rub is all in our faces. You don't only have to accept the way we are, you have to celebrate it! And dare not to do that.

And now, with some very loudmouth activists, we should even deny reality. Suddenly a man with a penis, who tells us he identifies as a woman, must be treated like any other woman. He can just walk into women's locker rooms, etc. And if anybody asks if that really makes sense, then just asking that question brings comments like bigot, etc.

Can we please get back to a point where we could live in peace together without sexualizing everything? The world will be just fine without a pride month or day or hour. School children don't need to see frag queens to grow up. We should at least try to live in harmony together.

There it is again.

The telling code -- stuff going in your faces.

Required reading in reactionary posts.

If people want to do Pride events, who exactly are you to stop them?

Also, nobody is forcing YOU to celebrate anything. BIG LIE.

Exactly. And in most Western countries, it is no perceived as a problem. All types of people watch LGBT prides, just as they watch carnival. Kids find it funny to see some men dressed as women and that's it.

What a big problem!

By curiosity, how often have you been "subjected" to this sight and where?

Gay pride month?

OH DEAR GAWD! Are you REALLY gonna start quoting "the biggest book of lies ever told?" If you really believe this drivel then if you've ever eaten shrimp or clams, you are a sinner. If you are left handed then you are a sinner.

I could go on but it would insult my computer.

I honestly doubt you actually know any gays. They are constantly under attack, and since the former president made it OK for haters to crawl out from under their slimy rocks, the attacks against EVERYONE who is not white have escalated.

Curious what 'rights' are being taken away by this 'assault'.  These days, nobody cares about gay marriage or what adults do in the privacy of their own homes.

Bunk. The right to marriage is being attacked across the US. One gay couple I know told me "It isn't about the sex. You think we WANTED to be gay?"

I's like be left-handed, you either are or you aren't.

And the marriage thing equates to this - if one of them is on their death bed, and the two of them had discussed whether or not to pull the plug, if their marriage is not honored, then the family can countermand the wishes of the couple.

Possible, so it may be during an event happening once a year in a limited number of places, event which he was very unlikely to attend.

So how often has he (and you, as you cared to reply) been "subjected" to this sight, considering that it is unlikely that he (or you) would attend a gay pride. Let's say, since the end of the pandemic (there was no gay pride during the pandemic).
