Prayut To Be Held Accountable For His Deeds Over Last 9 Years: Pita

It may well be that he, and MFP, have done an in depth appreciation. Looked at all the factors and come to a conclusion. They may well have reached a conclusion before the election.

 

Before the election, they may well have believed that they would win the most seats. They knew that they had a vote winning combination with their proposals to reform certain laws, and abolish conscription, which is hated amongst the young. A conclusion that was proved right.

 

They may also have decided that the Prayut regime would not relinquish power to an elected majority coalition. Particularly as their platform included reforming certain laws and abolishing conscription. A not unreasonable conclusion.

 

They know that the machinations of the Electoral Commission and the Constitutional Court have no credibility, within Thailand or outside.

 

They knew that two of the factors which played a major part in underpinning the establishments power were control of traditional print and broadcast media, and usurping traditional loyalties to a respected national institution. The first has been superseded, especially amongst younger people, the second has gone.

 

So from all these factors their conclusion, knowing that they have the votes, especially amongst young voters in Bangkok; they expect that the Prayut regime will have to be forced from office by protest - protests backed by a party with proven electoratel legitimacy. 

 

Stoke the fire under them.

Then a reform of the judiciary should be the first step. 

Pita may ends up not becoming an MP, as he held media company shares which prohibits him from being elected. That would be the law, not a compromised judiciary.

However, to be elected PM does not require to be an MP. So he still could and should be in power.

I agree, an unwise move but then the 'young' are always impatient. This shows his political immaturity, for moves of this magnitude you wait until the crown is firmly on your head. It is not only unwise but will also be fruitless, proving Prayut's 'crimes' would occupy the courts for years and be impossible to achieve, the number of excuses that could be brought forward are countless, ranging from political expediency to ineptitude, good intent that went wrong, a dire emergency in society demanded immediate action etc. nothing will come of it. I also hope this unelected caretaker PM's bank accounts between 2014 and now will be looked into.

If Pita eventually becomes PM, I hope he doesn't break any of his promises, especially this one.

Constant fighting from the same swamp. 

Pita comes from the same swamp to actually think he has the mental capacity to pull a couple on his own. 

This guy was the safest choice to use as a puppet a face. You watch him when he first came in to office compare it with the picture from this story.  The guy was wearing the wrong color socks although retired his attired pajamas and his old army uniform today hair dyeed trimmed everyday, suits he looks sharp PM material. Reward he has a few billions in his Swiss bank and those pulling his strings who help with the coup,  drew up the constitutions for him all got rich and richer. 

The fighting will never stop it isn't in their culture,  Pita got his education in the West like many of the elite before him the PM before Yickluck,  the Finance Minister,  all Ivy League education return to government anything change? 

Even if they wanted to change they cant the problem and corruption is too deep. The fighting the coalition is all based on making sure we get our share before the people figure it out.

Thai culture is based on complexity and the lack of clarity and accountability that accompanies it.

 

Pita is bold and a bit callow. But someone has to make a start on the changes at every level of Thai society needed to drag the country in to the 1990s. We should all be cheering him on, not sitting back making the usual old-man-I-know-better smartarse comments.

Also quite amazing how a guy who is not PM yet, and is under investigation for his shares, cannot keep his mouth shut for a moment. Sorry, his fingers away from facebook.

When you have an administration that is built solely upon a foundation of cronyism, favoritism, and corruption, you end up with alot of morally bankrupt people, with ridiculous amounts of money. It gives them an Ivory Tower consciousness, and seems to foster a level of pathology that manifests itself as a dislike of the common man, a lack of respect for anyone who is not very wealthy, and a system of patronage, that only the toxic urchins within the army, the administration, the police, immigration, customs, and the elite of society benefit from.
 

Nobody knows the actual level of corruption, nor the real crimes committed by the army goons. They likely stripped the treasury bare. They need to pay. Lock up Prayuth, Prawit, Phiphat, Anutin and the others.

Where do you take from that millions want Prayuth punished? I often voted in my country a other party than in power but never wanted the current party punished. And normally in a democracy we don't punish politicians who didn't brake the law (unfortunately we don't even punish these who do brake the law).

If Prayuth broke the law, everyone can go to court about it.
