Don't mention the c word

There is no way the C word is going to come into it.  The people protesting are all against the military so will ignore any attempt at military rule.

Also if they P$ss off the PT then you will see the red shirts in the street and they have absolutely no fear of the military.

He made a critical mistake that he could have easily avoided. No-one to blame but himself.

Isn't this the same Charter Court that remained silent when the military junta overthrew the elected government in 2014, abolished the 2007 Constitution and claimed absolute power to govern?

But oh so concerned about adhering to the letter of the law and the Constitution when it comes to a freely-elected populist government taking control of the government.

Drama Queen!

Last time the Thai establishment tried to shut down its challengers, it sparked the biggest protests in a generation. Defying the people's will after their election success could prove far more dangerous.

Or you need to read some Thai history. 1947, 1958, 1973, 1992, 2010 plus a massive campaign in the North East in the 1970s and 1980s that saw thousands dead.

That is a fear that many Thais have based o the way that the RTP handled the last big protests.  Also, remember there was a big to-do over the red-shirt protest where the military shot people.

Do you really think that's the reason? That's at best very naive. In 2006 it was a cooking show. In 2014 it was a minor shift of an official years before.

These are all establishment excuses for judicial coups.

Yeah just thinking I might go to Starbucks if it is open at MBK it might be interesting for an hour just hate trying to figure out where I can catch the BTS

I think PheuThai and Anutin are the option now. And they will get a majority.

Not that bad, representing 25 M people with some other smaller parties who are against LM 112 changes etc. compared to 14M.

The future is not now.

On the plus side he hasn't been arrested or sent to an Attitude Adjustment camp.

Election is order  for Thais! This is thailand, Not farangland!

To be clear....I am farang too!!

FF will utterly destroy all these clowns in the next election and will be able to reform Thailand unhindered.

Rome wasn’t built in a day.

That is being more then a bit naive i think, why do you think the next time will be better?

The last time people have said the same, this is not the time for"mai pen rai".

While the issue with the shares was partly relevant it was by no means the reason for the no votes.  I think you could have nominated MR CLEAN a person that had everything above board no issues has a wife 2 kids went to temple never said a cross word. It wold not matter.  There is no way that the power brokers are going to let any changes to the constitution Lese Majeste the draft and taxation happen.  I can guarantee that the military memebers will not want to see the money cut or any changes no matter who is in power.

The only question now is do they want Thaksin back in power and how long is it going to take for them to disband MFP and create a new monster.

do u really think that, come on, they would have found something else, it was a losing situation from the moment he start to put forward his intentions of making changes.... the "old" crocs here don't like and will not allow changes as it would have hurt their pockets/status, asian mentality it's complete different then westerner, here the main concern it's me and me, myself and I, the rest, country/people, it's not important

So the PM vote today is non starter.

will they outlaw the entire MF party next?
Might as well go the full 9 yards

I missed the explanation of why he did not get rid of those shares before running.

Could someone clue me in there

Company ceased trading 10 years back.

You can't buy or sell shares in such a company.

Phuethai and Anutin are not a big enough majority.  Once all the smoke settles and the government has gotten settled If they join together I would expect a vote of NO confidence by MFP or whatever the party name is.

Any joining with Anutin would hurt the PT considerably.  The only way for PT to survive at all is to stay with the coalition as it stands and make nice with MFP.

They can’t win fair and square so the resort to skulduggery. Shameful!

42.000 shares less than 45k Baht.

Why he just did not sell before to be on safe side?

He knew about the existing law and not the „future“ law.

As far as I'm aware shares from a suspended company can not be sold, at best they can be transferred to someone who agrees.

I know because I own shares in an ADR of a Russian telecom, which has delisted on the US stock market because of the sanctions, hence I can not sell them

Are you sure about your middle paragraph? Thailand and Democracy do not belong in the same sentence.

This is the key to any protests. A bunch of high school and college kids standing around in front of a BTS station, waiting to get hit by a water cannon isn't going to do it. When the Red Shirts come to town, that's a different matter. These people are tough, carry studded 2x4s, don't mind the heat, and are willing to pitch camp wherever they're told to.

If I remember correctly they also bring their own police force.  Jatuporn will be very happy right now.

I think Siam or Asoke or Padipat Street on the way to the river are first rows.
