Jumping the gun slightly, aren't we?

 

First off, Pita I believe has been urged to file a case stating his disbarring from being renominated was unconstitutional. This advice came from  at least one of the lawyers who wrote it the 2017 constitution. See Borwornsak Uwanno in the BP.

 

Second, the case against him for holding shares in a media company brought by Ruangkrai Leekitwattana  has yet to be ruled on.

 

Third, the case against him brought by Theerayut Suwankesorn, accusing him of trying to overthrow the constitutional monarchy under section 49 has similarly yet to be heard.

 

My advice? Counter sue for defamation in at least 2 of these cases!

I hope the Move Forward Party can take the long term view. All they need to do is hold it all together, be an effective and accountable oposition, and they will be able to govern in their own right after the next election. Pheu Thai is finished as a credible election force and their votes will shift to Move Forward.

What a poor, snake-like, slimy start for a new prospective PM. Putting himself in office with such a big election lie. I'm amazed that the PT base allows this to happen so easily. As for the decision now to go to bed with the old junta parties, I doubt that the PT base has sanctioned it.

Move Forward steps back, lets Pheu Thai take the lead in forming new governement

 

BANGKOK, July 21 (TNA) The Move Forward Party has announced to hand over the leading role to Pheu Thai Party which came second in the election to form a new government.

 

MFP secretary-general Chaithawat Tulathon on Friday said the election –winning MFP has decided to step back and hand over the leading role to Pheu Thai in forming a government.

 

He apologized to the public for the unsuccessful attempt to establish a government after its leader could not secure enough support from the 749-member bicameral parliament to become the next prime minister.

Obvious to outsiders (  however many ASEANNOW Thai expats still now moving on and not getting it )   about why  it is  "to install  Srettha   as Prime Minister"  

 

Thai public are very uncomfortable about  Thaksin coming back to Thailand, at least not now, not in a short with all the fuss about Thaksin abbreviated jail term or none.  ( Almost no excitement gesture about Thaksin return even from Peua Thai core )

 

 Weeks before May 14, 2023 voting,   Thaksin kept talking about returning in May, June, July or whenever while it appeared the young lady was likely the next PM 

  Thaksin talk actually hurt Peua Thai in the voting. This is dominant factor causing Peua Thai polls had came down in the final two weeks before voting and leading to the second place finish. 

 

Peua Thai  supporters are fine with the young lady and hope she eventually exhibits leadership out of fatherly shadow.   At least Peua Thai got the message belatedly and NOT put her to nomination now.

Undoubtedly MFP will be dissolved and Pita banned for 10 years and maybe even imprisoned.  But the movement has shown the ability to regenerate and come back as something stronger and more coherent.  Dissolving two Thaksinite parties also had minimal effect.

With Bhumjai Thai, UTN & prominent junta-appointed senators like Somchai Sawaengkarn saying no to Pheu Thai as long as they're still with Move Forward Party, the chance of MFP ending up in the opposition is now high to very high.
