Sad. To slam into parked truck I wonder how many of the following apply. Drink, drugs, on phone, no helmet

The linked article says the police think she may have been sleeping while driving the motorcycle.

Depend on the speed she was travelling at, as at high speed helmet will not help if you get your chest caved in.

She's gonna be real mad when she wakes up on the other side.

Besides the motorbike rider, was the pickup parked legally and in a safe place?

The article suggests she might have been sleeping. As one does when driving a motorcycle, or so it seems.

:ermm: I'm puzzled by your post as the photo accompanying this report shows without any doubt that the pickup was parked correctly.

VERY SAD LOSS OF LIFE . but as so many Thai drivers do not concentrate when driving, on the phone as example.

Sleep riding, beats sleep walking anytime.

May I hazard a guess no headlight and no helmet. The pick up has perfectly good reflectors including a number plate.

Hope you don't drive or ride or in fact walk anywhere, with your eyesight.

was glib really necessary? this girl had died..........she might have a husband here and kids, she'll have parents.........maybe has siblings.....................but you thought trying to be witty was the appropriate retort. Sums up too many of the members here unfortunately.

not with Burmese. Its a sfer bet that someone has been working her like a dog and she was exhausted and trying to get home to her family.

Yes, parked on the motorbike lane.

Perfectly legal if no red curbs/ or signs saying otherwise. It's a lit duel carriageway.

Officially, by law, there is no such thing. It is there for people to park safely, but it is the norm for motorcycles to use it. Which is sensible. As long as they pay attention, which for some is too much of a challenge.

Correct it is not technically a motorbike lane. However it is often used as such and except emergencies parking in that lane is illegal.

Not on normal highways, you can park legally. IMO
