Pita says the aim must be to stop “old power” succession

Being prime minister is not as important as stopping the continued succession of “old power”, said Move Forward Party leader Pita Limjaroenrat in his social media post Friday night. It was followed by a video clip reiterating the same message.

 

In his statement, Pita said that it is clear that the conservatives will not allow Move Forward to lead the government coalition, using the party’s campaign pledge to amend the lèse majesté law as an excuse.

 

“…but being unable to be the prime minister does not mean our hope of changing this country ends there,” said Pita, adding that the most important thing is to form the government according to the people’s will, which is change and the ending of “the succession” of the current administration.

It is interesting to reflect that had MF been banned long before the election then Phua Thai would have got the landside they were seeking. With two anti establishment parties the vote was split , something favoring the conservatives. But even if Phua Thai had picked up every single vote that went to MF , the resulting landslide  would still not have been enough to overcome the block of senators.

 

When there was a referundum on the new constitution back in 2016 the coup makers knew that their worries were over. That fixed vote absolutely fixed once and for all any hope of a decent political party gaining power from any popular vote. Details in the thread I started :

 

 

 

Therefore, there is now only one method of bringing about any meaningful political change here and that method will have to come , if it ever does , at a high price in spilt blood. That scenario seems a pretty unlikely one at the moment.

He is totally right... The old dinosaurs have to get out . It is time to enter the 21st century and the old power, stays far behind. The biggest problem is how to stop them, as they made laws and rules in the years that it is almost impossible to get rid of them. Best example are the 250 senators. A totally new constitution must be written to prevent that coups and army can take over again and that democratic principles will be respected. But the army and the elite have the money, with which they can buy(corrupt) almost everyone/thing. I have faith in a better Thailand when the old guard is gone.

The only way that can happen is by developing a system where there are consequences for attaining governing power illegally.  I assume that assuaming power via a military coup is illegal in Thailand ,

Am I wrong?  perhaps I am I don't know. 

If I am right, what are the consequences for those who assumed governing power Illegally? 

If I am wrong and acquiring governing power via a military coup is legal, it needs to change.

Stop and think for a moment will you please ........... If MFP get into power, all the skeletons will be exposed. They will find all of the graft, they will find all of the money stolen from the public purse and then the proverbial will really hit the fan.

These old school powers will fight til their last breath to stop this from happening. Surely you can see that.

He needs to be direct to put fear in them as this is the only thing that they respond to.

and where was the constitutional court at that time - no where to be seen. Didn't act and just approved, approved, approved. Scum the lot of them & absolutely no back bone. If you remember at that time, political parties were forbidden to canvass against the new constitution - where was the constitutional court then. No where.

 

It was an ineffective tool and still remains that way. Get rid of it.

If Bhumjaithai join the coalition, or even just vote for Settha to be PM, then no Senate vote is needed in the process.

Anuthin says he won't vote for any PM candidate that has MF in its coalition because of Clause 112 

But MF have no hope of passing any bill regarding 112 as all other parties reject reforming it So:

1. Bhumjaithai shouldn't use this reasoning as a reason not to join .

2. MF could drop any plans for 112 for now.

The old guard appears to be doing everything within their power, and flexing their muscles in a very toxic fashion, to prevent anything good or positive from happening. Don't they have enough money?
