Pita Will No Longer Be Named PM: Prasert

MOVE FORWARD LEADER Pita Limjaroenrat will no longer be named prime minister, according to Pheu Thai secretary-general Prasert Chanthararuangthong.

 

Though Pita might possibly be given a second chance by court to be named and voted prime minister some time next month, the Pheu Thai as head of the eight coalition partners will no longer name him so again, Prasert commented today (July 26).

 

In lieu of the Move Forward leader who has already failed to get adequate support from among non-coalition MPs and senators earlier this month and is currently suspended by court from performing as MP, one of a trio of Pheu Thai candidates for prime minister will be named and voted some time next month.

 

Real estate tycoon Srettha Thavisin viewed as personally close to deposed prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra is currently known as the No.1 Pheu Thai contender for prime minister.

 

It remains to be seen whether the Pheu Thai under de facto party boss/deposed prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra will eventually turn away from the eight coalition partners to the other side which includes the Bhumjaithai under de facto party boss Newin Chidchob, the Palang Pracharath headed by Prawit Wongsuwan and the Ruam Thai Sang Chart under de facto party boss/caretaker prime minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, among others.

There is no way pita goes anywhere except a jail cell. The army won't allow it. All Move forward can do is publicly ditch the coalition and become the opposition. Phu Thai will have to deal with a very angry electorate and those trade deals they want with Europe will be benched. They have acknowledged that on Thai pbs today eu does not like talking to authortiean government, forcing the economy to be solely reliant on china. They can then run again in 4 years. Unless the Thais have some fight in them but I don't see it. The country's elite want to be stuck in the last century and I don't see how you fix that

It worries me when I see the word "Tycoon" to describe the next potential PM. It's a sure sign that nothing has changed, and that Thailand is still on a downward spiral.

Can you post a link please. I doubt very much EU won't talk to an Authoritarian government for a trade deal.

PT will find out that they have the same problem unless of course they surrender to the junta, might be worth it to get the senate sacked then and scrap article 272 and then  call an election, there is ## the junta can do about it............win win, it's a shame that the winning parties have to go to these lengths to honor the election and the choices the thai people made when they voted, discusting

It is all about article 112. in the MFP's manifesto. The king is worried and other parties won't support it. Yet it was in the manifesto long before the election and the Thai people still voted for it. If article 112 is removed the other would back MFP.

Section 112 is only an excuse .. Everybody knows that this law was abused by Prayuth and his Government..And yes amendment is very needed as time changes, but if MFP dropped this article, there is something else they will find. The constitution is created to prevent Civil Governments but keep the army in power..

     I still like the idea of FF elected representatives voting collectively for the PT candidate for PM, even if the FF party is kicked out of the coalition.  That way, all the various junta House party members, and any Senators voting for the PT candidate, will be seen as agreeing with FF's choice, and voting with FF, on the selection.   Make them all squirm a little.  I'd rather have a PT candidate as PM than one of the old junta dinosaurs.   We seem to be at the 'baby steps' stage at this point.

In 2019 when Prayut was appointed PM the EU ambassador to Thailand was among the first to congraulate him.

For me, it was akin to congratulating a bank robber on his new found wealth.

Any candidate supported my MFP will fail in the Senate. They've more or less said as much. It's total bias and bigotry. It actually goes against their remit. Hopefully the case against them will win. They're not supposed to hold any political allegiance. I see another CC case looming.

There is no way they will dissolve the Senate structure, as an instrument of control it is 99% effective.

It will be re-imagined/repurposed before the clock runs out.

3. Well, by knowing this you cant insist in first place when you look for a majority in parliament. No strategy, all items in some why connected:). No compromise wont lead to a PM for him.

Anyway, court will take him out maybe.
