The long holidays have reportedly been known to promote expenditure within Phuket, with conjecture claiming an economic boost of close to 2.2 billion baht. Due to the surge in local activities, however, Vachira Hospital has taken the necessary steps of temporarily shutting down outpatient services to preserve resources and maintain efficiency during the holiday period.

The destruction of kids education by the Thai authorities it quite outstanding - my kid is hardly ever in school.

Imagine how much the Thai economy would be boosted if they approved year round extended holliday. Not sure why they have not thought of that.

Amazing Thailand. In the UK, the additional Bank Holiday for the Coronation caused a serious drop in economic output, contributing to a 0.1% fall in GDP in May. Yet in Thailand, it seems that having millions of people on holiday instead of working actually improves the economy, lol.

But mostly it's government/bank/office types who get paid holidays. Average folks just work as usual if want day's pay.

Yes, that's the point I was making, the extra holiday mainly goes to civil servants and the professional types like banks and lawyers. But if losing the hard work of all these people for a day actually improves overall GDP, then their average productivity must be negative and the economy would be better off putting them all on permanent furlough, lol.
