snoop1130
The Move Forward party is conducting a background check into one of its constituency MPs, Nakornchai Khunnarong, after he was accused of having served time in prison on a theft conviction. Nattawut Buaprathum, a deputy leader of the party, said today (Thursday) that the party’s legal experts are now investigating the case, adding that he has already talked with Nakornchai and asked for evidence to prove his innocence. He said that the party had already checked the background of the MP, when he applied for electoral candidacy, and found he was clean. He added that he believes the MP did not falsify any evidence. RichardColeman
Do not see being convicted of anything as an issue for being an MP, might even give some insight to prison reforms

PETERTHEEATER
This implies that there is no register held by the RTP or Justice system .of criminal convictions within Thailand. This MP should not have to prove he has no criminal record. The accuser should already have evidence to hand from official sources. However, there is no smoke without fire. An individual released after serving a custodial sentence could change their name and be issued new ID in an attempt to conceal past criminal offences.

Jibberish. Australian drug conviction[edit] Manat Bophlom, now known as Thamanat Prompow, was convicted of conspiring to import heroin to Australia. The ruling was handed down on 31 March 1994 when he was sentenced to six years imprisonment. Manat served four years, then was deported upon his release.[19] BBC Thai reporters traveled to Downing Court in Sydney to view court records. Forbidden to make photocopies, they translated a relevant court document into Thai as proof of the conviction that Thamanat continues to deny.[20][21] Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwon asked the Thai people to leave the past in the past, saying the case has already been cleared up and that it was a matter concerning one person that has nothing to do with the nation.[22][23] Thamanat claims he will sue the Sydney Morning Herald for defamation,[24] although he declines to respond to their reporting.[25] Edited July 29, 2023 by still kicking https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thamanat_Prompow#Australian_drug_conviction 1

Yes it makes 100% sense to those who have some knowledge of the case. Thamanat Prompow did 3 or 5 year in jail in Oz for drug offences, then deported. And found guilty of using fake documents and more. A few years later he's a big shot in Thailand advising prayut. A reporter asked prayut how can the guy be a member of prayut's party and be a member of parliament if he's done time in Oz for drug offences etc? Prayut replies, "It wasn't in Thailand so it doesn't matter". Edited July 30, 2023 by scorecard

Last time I saw mr toad being asked he claimed several friends, most friends lend a drill or a spanner, not watches costing that much. Investigation was a farce, all they had to do was find out who the watches were registered to.
