Popular Post webfact Posted July 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 30, 2023 FORMER MP and graft-buster Chuwit Kamolvisit reconfirmed today (July 29) that former prime minister/de facto Pheu Thai Party boss Thaksin Shinawatra will not be returning to Thailand on August 10 despite his daughter Paetongtarn Shinawatra saying this is just a delirious projection,TV Channel 7 said. Chuwit had late last night posted a message on his Facebook page saying “The game has flipped, Thaksin has retreated, cancels return to Thailand, the situation has changed,” with this prompting Paetongtarn to say this morning that he was just delirious. However Chuwit later said he was not angry at Paetongtarn who wants her father to return to Thailand and he also would like to do so but she might not know all the conditions put up. Certainly on August 10 it will be revealed which one is delirious, he added. Chuwit also said he is certain a new prime minister will not emerge on Aug. 4 when the next House/Senate meeting takes place to vote for one. by TNR Staff Former MP Chuwit Kamolvisit and Thaksin Shinawatra’s daughter Paetongtarn Shinawatra who is one of three Pheu Thai candidates for prime minister. Popular Post bannork Posted July 31, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 31, 2023 Jatuporn says the same. He says being pardoned is not as straightforward as some make out, especially for corruption cases. There can be objections to the release of the prisoner. And once Thaksin has handed himself over to the authorities, he has lost all autonomy. Can he trust them to keep their side of the deal? Time will tell. 4

Popular Post JonnyF Posted July 31, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 31, 2023 Bearing in mind the individuals involved, I can see some double crossing. Here are 2 possibilities. 1. They promise to pardon him then leave him locked up for years on technicalities. 2. They pardon him and then he reneges on his promise to back the Army when released. Many other possibilities for a stitch up on either side. Oh what a tangled web we weave... 3 1

Sure, there will be a load of screaming initially if he goes to jail and they will do what they do best, keep quiet and wait for the dust to settle. 26 minutes ago, scottiejohn said: How is it "cowardly" to not want to spend any time in a Thai Prison? Nothing to do with cowardice and Thaksin should know the mechanics of a system he helped create. 13 minutes ago, JonnyF said: Bearing in mind the individuals involved, I can see some double crossing. I'd bet the farm on the unlikelihood of him returning even at risk of getting egg on my face. This guy has no intention of spending one day in a Thai prison at 74 years old. Similar story of Kamnan Poh, how long did he spend in jail?, and Thaksin has more ' clout ' than he had. I think a load more ' hot air ' will be pushed around and more excuses made ready about ' not being the right time ' His haters are still in the driving seat of this country. 3 2

Popular Post webfact Posted July 31, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted July 31, 2023 Fate of Thaksin linked to political fate of the kingdom as Chuwit predicts his return deal is off by Joseph O' Connor Thaksin faces a momentous personal decision to run the gauntlet of being arrested at Don Mueang Airport and lodged at Bangkok Remand Prison on Thursday, August 10th with the prospects of a 10-year jail term ahead of him and potential future charges while the Pheu Thai Party faces instantaneous loss of its long term support base if it enters a coalition government as part of a ‘super deal’ with parties associated with the outgoing government and the former military junta. A deal is reported to be in place but over the weekend, doubts were reported to be setting in. The return of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is becoming enmeshed with the current power struggle at a political level going on between conservative and progressive forces after the General Election threw up a result which has put the Pheu Thai Party in the centre of the political spectrum with the capability of swinging political power in Thailand from one group to another. The fate of Mr Thaksin, who is the de facto leader of the party, has thus become linked to the political fate of the country and is at the confluence of a plot hatched by the conservatives to break up the eight-party coalition pact signed by the Move Forward Party, the Pheu Thai Party and six other smaller parties for a ‘Government of Hope’ on the 22nd May 2023, nine years to the day after the 2014 coup d’état. On Friday, the planned return of Mr Thaksin on August 10th to Thailand, announced by his daughter on July 26th, was thrown into doubt when Mr Chuwit Kamolvisit, the political activist who has a knack for detecting what is happening behind the scenes, revealed that Mr Thaksin has gotten cold feet fearing that he may be the victim of deception. Up until Friday in Bangkok, it was accepted that former Premier Thaksin Shinawatra would be returning to Thailand on August 10th next. He was expected to land at Don Mueang Airport. On Friday afternoon, the Director General of the Department of Corrections, Ayuth Sintoppant, came forward to assure the public that the former premier would be safely incarcerated in prison after his arrest on August 10th by Immigration Bureau officers on arrival back in Thailand. This is to me, is what the powers that be are wanting to do, break up the coalition at all costs, because they have now realised all that they put in place to stay in power is in jeopardy with no Senators from next year. OK, they could stage another coup but that will be at the risk of killing the economy that they have been feeding off for the past however many years. Interesting times are ahead. 6 3
