HOUSE SPEAKER WAN MUHAMAD Noor Matha today (Aug.4) was considerably taken to task on social media for being allegedly too incompetent and indecisive to chair significant, joint House/Senate meetings.

Many viewers of today’s joint House/Senate session which only lasted a few hours almost immediately accused Wan Noor of performing in wishy-washy fashion as he adjourned it after a few hours of debate over the Move Forward’s latest motion to have the lawmakers reconsider whether they may give Forward leader Pita Limjaroenrat a second chance of being named prime minister.

Instead of awaiting the Constitutional Court’s delayed ruling on the case, the legislative branch was strongly advised to perform independently and practically decide for themselves on it, according to Move Forward MPs.

Much to the legislators’ surprise, the House speaker who concurrently performs as parliament president, today ended the joint House/Senate session after a few hours of debate on the refreshed Move Forward motion.

House speaker suspends joint sitting on Friday

The joint sitting of parliament today (Friday) did not consider a motion, proposed by the Move Forward party, to revoke Article 272 of the Constitution, which allows senators to vote for a prime minister.

Move Forward proposed the revocation after its leader Pita failed to win enough parliamentary support for his premiership candidacy. Senators abstained or disapproved of his candidacy, citing his party’s campaign pledge to amend the lèse majesté law.

Instead, Move Forward MPs on Friday kept parliament busy with their request to reconsider the decision, made on July 19, to reject the renomination of their party’s leader Pita Limjaroenrat for prime minister.

Pita?

Pity MF can't turn back the clock and re run the speaker argument , offering PT the PM slot on condition Pita got the speaker job. Now MF are going to end up with nothing

MF seems somewhat confused.

Initially claiming that Parliament did not have the authority to apply rule 41. Some MF taking the issue to the ombudsman and eventually the CC.

Now MF want Parliament to settle the issue and not involve the CC.

Incompetent.

He should resign.

He presided over one session and under his "leadership" Thailand immediately fell into a full-blown Constitutional crisis.

The allegation is that he's 'too incompetent' so it's OK to be incompetent. ????

It would have fallen into a full blown crisis no matter who was elected. He is simply the compromise candidate.

I noticed that. It might be an issue with translation or it may be that a bit incompetent is OK and the best that can be hoped for.

Then again maybe it should have read 'he's too incontinent'.

What else can one expect from a former PTP member?

He has been a member of many parties. Has now principles other than making money. was Interior Minister during the War on Drugs.  Said nothing about the Tak Bai massacre where his fellow Muslims were murdered.  A truly despicable human being.

Well, the bar has to be set low enough for the likes of "Uncle Pom" to clear it - and the most he can manage by way of a run up is a medium paced waddle for a few metres, followed by a snooze!
